Aston Villa are advancing in talks to sign Pau Torres. Deal not completed yet but progressing to key stages between the two clubs. 🟣🔵🇪🇸 #AVFC

Bayern decided to go for Kim as priority and Villa now pushing to sign Pau — as Unai Emery wants him.

How is Pau pronounced? Pow, Paw, Po?
Sort of "Powoo". It also means 'Peace' in Catalan.

If you met him, you could say "How now Pau?" And Pau would rhyme with how and now.

haha

I said not long after Emery came in that he would do all he could to get Torres!

As things stand, looks like he’s got his man

What about the worries that he's crap in the air?

Physically light anyway for PL football but I guess Emery is thinking we will be dominating possession a lot more next season. Bit like Tielemans it's a bit strange that LCB is a position that we are looking to strengthen. Don't think it sounds good for Diego Carlos future with us that this deal is so close.

In terms of profile though, Tielemans and Torres are statement signings. Two very talented players with club and international experience.

If say it's more likely Chambers would go?

Maybe we'll have two pairings; Mings and Konsa, and Carlos and Torres. Regardless, we will have a solid set of choices.

Central defence as it currently stands, along with the addition of Tielemans to midfield were in my opinion our strongest areas and not priorities

Priorities were

Back up keeper - no links at all which is worrying

RB - Assume we must have something up our sleeve as we were so quick to let Young go

New 10 - Was strongly linked to ascensio (sp) but he chose RM

Wide attacker - Nico Williams - chose Chelsea, Linked with Barnes - not a lot else going on

Pau #Torres have agreed personal terms for a contract until 2028 with #AstonVilla, which are ready to close the deal with #Villarreal. Torres’ contract expires in 2024 and he wants to leave.

More on Pau Torres and Aston Villa. The negotiations are really accelerating — as revealed in the morning. Clubs close to reaching an agreement, talks are taking place right now. 🚨🟣🔵 #AVFC

Been told Unai Emery is really pushing to get the agreement done this week, asap.

Pau Torres to Aston Villa, here we go! Agreement in place — as revealed today Unai Emery wanted Pau to join this week and it’s gonna happen. 🚨🟣🔵 #AVFC

Contract agreed, also medical being scheduled. Villa will pay way less than the release clause.

Big one for Emery & Villa.

Nope, confusion with Nico Jackson.
