Danny Murphy keeps referencing Liverpool as top side when discussing Transfer targets like Maddison ,  who is being linked to Newcastle.  He doesn't think Maddison would be good enough for the likes of  Man City and Liverpool .  He does realise 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' are not in the Champions League ?

Feels reasonable to reference Liverpool as a top side. They're a huge club, probably one of only 2 or 3 who are basically immune to short-term blips in form when judging the calibre of player they can sign. Murphy's still a prized prat though

As much as I despise Murphy, he is right.

Maddison isn't good enough for the "top" teams.

I personally don't think he is good enough for us either.

He is a pound shop Grealish.

Harsh. He's at least Sainsbury level.

Bertrand Traore injured again.  Get rid

Yep thanks for everything Bert, but time to pack him off somewhere.

Only 12 months left on his contract. Get him fit, loan him out again. Might need his replacement in first though.
Chelsea would get £20m from Saudi for him.

BBC writing about Scott McTominay, worth a look?

Only if that is a look at him as he's driving to the the other end of the country to sign for someone who isn't us.

Anyone else get frustrated when all the chatter (news now - i know i shouldn't) about a player we are strongly linked with

Nico Williams
Asensio
Ugarte
Pau Torres
Chukwueze
Guenduzi

Either go somewhere else, advise they are not interested or no updates at all

I really thought we we do like last year and pounce as soon as season ended

Well we did, with Tielemans. Which is one more player than a lot of clubs have signed, and also arguably the best bit of business any club has done this summer so far.

The month of July is going to be incredibly busy. Monchi joins, kit release, pre season tours, players get back to training, and we will start to see players being added and leaving. As much as it is quiet now it will get really hectic in a couple of weeks.

Man Utd fans seem to think Maguire, McTominay and £20m for Rice would be a great deal for West Ham.  Feels a bit like Onomoh & £3m to me.

I think with his wages Man U will need to give Maguire away to have any chance of getting him off the books.

Especially if he's found guilty at retrial...
