I see we've been linked with Summerville at Leeds. He's highly rated by their fans but for us he'd be on the bench, one for the future. If we can get him cheap it could be a good bit of business. Who we bring in either as a winger/forward is going to be key. It's our weakest area and we need players/strikers that can straight into the team.

I don't know how he'd cope with the move to Brum. Strikes me as a Smalltown Boy.

Anyone else get frustrated when all the chatter (news now - i know i shouldn't) about a player we are strongly linked with

Nico Williams
Asensio
Ugarte
Pau Torres
Chukwueze
Guenduzi

Either go somewhere else, advise they are not interested or no updates at all

I really thought we we do like last year and pounce as soon as season ended

Not at all. We don’t normally do our business in public and I’d very much doubt there’s much in the rumours that appear in the press.
I heard Ings say that when he knew he was moving the club told him that if it got out into the press beforehand we’d pull the plug on it. I know it’s not always possible but we’ve become very good at going under the radar with regards to signings.

Why though what’s the point of all the secrecy
They’re just signings of footballers, we’re not talking about nuclear codes here just links with Bill and Bob who may or may not sign for us

I don’t get why everyone gets off on the fact that we are really good at playing MI6 when it comes to signing a few footballers,
who gives a fuck if anyone knows or not

The only reason must be to avoid getting  involved in a bidding war. Very hard to do these days but we’ve managed it a few times. If the player leaks it with an attempt to generate a move somewhere else or to get more money the club walks away. Why not keep your business deals private until they are signed? I’d rather find out when the player signs than put up with the weeks of speculation that’s played out in the media.

BBC writing about Scott McTominay, worth a look?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65969204

Won’t have anything said against the goal machine that is Scott McTominay when he lines up for Scotland. Happy when he’s lined up for Man U against us though. How different a player can be in the right system.

There is a twitter link to Ader Guler who is one of the hottest properties in Europe. This would be amazing.

That Romano chap tweeted the other day that every top club in Europe will be after him on account of his low release clause (17m I think).

A link to Nicolo Zaniolo who from his showreel reminds me of Snodgrass.

I'd be amazed if we got this kid, he's special and will have plenty of offers. You could double or treble the release clause and teams would be sniffing around him.

He’d be great at Man City, making ten yard passes to the left back. Probably better than that pissed up bloke.
