I think the Premier League and UEFA rules are different.

Premier League seems to be a maximum 17 non-home grown players are allowed in a squad of up to 25. If you only have 6 home grown you could have a maximum squad size of 23.

UEFA requires you to have 8 home grown players in a 25 man squad, 4 of these would have to come through the club's own youth system.

I might be wrong though.

We could include Ramsey jnr and Iroegbunam for UEFA I guess.

Just edited my previous post. We could name less home grown players but would have to reduce squad size.

Which is the same for the premier league so no need to treat the squads differently.

Almost. For UEFA you still need a minimum of 4 of your 8 home grown to be club developed. If you don't have any club developed players you can only have a maximum 4 non-club developed home grown players.

Ah yes, JJ, Archer, Sinisalo and KKH then I'd guess.

Ramsey J., Ramsey A., Archer, Sinisalo, Iroegbunam, O'Reilly, Patterson, Revan, Swinkels, Chrisene, all qualify... and I'd guess there's potential for the first 7 or 8 who've all made matchday squads this season...

What it might do is effect loan options, maybe we’ll have to wait until the play off round is done before some of the youngsters know whether they will be loaned out

Yes but only JJ, Cam and Sinisalo need to be registered, the rest are all still considered U21 so can be played regardless. I added KKH because I thought he was older but he'd be fine as well.

The only players I can think of for that last spot are Davis and Philogene.

I'd be surprised if KKH, Davis or Philogene were still here come Septembe 1st.

KKH might still be here but Davis should be gone and probably Philogene too.

But wouldn't we need to register them to hit the target?

No, it makes no difference, if we could only name 3 it'd just mean we can only name 24.

An Italian journalist claims we had already agreed a deal with Roma for Tammy Abraham before his ACL injury in the last game. I know he's very much a marmite player on here but  €30m in today's market for an English player would have been good value.

“Roma had already sold Abraham to Aston Villa for €30m,” claimed Di Giovambattista.

“The deal was already closed, then everything fell through because of injury. According to our information, the Englishman will return in November 2023.”

Good. He's average at best.

Get well soon though.

re Saudi, I never understood how it was that 15 of the 19 9/11 perpetrators were Saudi, yet American revenge for the attack seemed to involve nothing of note in the direction of Saudi Arabia.

I struggle to think of a more vile, reprehensible hell hole.

You are asserting a country with a population of 36 million based on the actions of 15 people.....some would say the hell hole is between your ears, but I would like to think you just had a bad day.

Yea but the Americans never seem to have any qualms doing that with other nationalities.

And Jesus, bit over the top with the ‘between your ears’ comment.

Reports that we have apparently made a 'succulent offer' to Nico Williams.

Yeah, I don't wish him any ill will but I'm glad he's not coming.

When does an offer go from 'good' to 'succulent'? I want to know this juicy scale.

Agaves with a few prickly pears thrown in for good measure?

True but I'd say I'm more succulent than a cactus but those pricks are called succulents.

It's when we offer to take them for a succulent Chinese meal down Hurst Street.
