He did an interesting interview on Martyn Ware (of H17/THL)'s podcast a while back.

Now linked with two Spurs cast offs

Danjuma - Spurs didn't take up the buy option, now being linked to us again. Might be a lazy link due to the Emery / Villareal connection. I assume if we were interested we would have signed him when Spurs did in January.

Lo Celso - Again bit of a lazy link as Emery has signed him for both PSG and Villareal previously. Has not sparkled at Spurs, but is a full Argentina international so can't be that bad.

Also been some speculation on the Brentford keeper David Raya at £40m. I don't know how the press tout Martinez for the same price as Raya, but would expect us to pay a lot less if we did buy him whilst selling Emi for a lot more if we did sell.

It's a bit quiet on the transfer front atm. Not just us, all clubs.

Hurry up. Want some news.

Wouldn't surprise me if we did bring in a couple of players at this stage who have played under him before though.  He's seen what he is working with now and will have a clear idea of the upgrades he needs and might have in mind a couple of players who could provide those upgrades.

They will be players who could fit in quite quickly, would know his methods and ways of working and may be keen to work with him again.

Aston Villa are in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a move for 24-year-old Portugal midfielder Pedro Gonçalves. (A Bola - via Sport Witness)

Don’t know how reliable these are

The Guendozi stuff seems to have gone very quiet, there must have been something in that in January given the noise from his side?

This is generally the quietest time, season end, everyone going on holiday, just a couple of competitions coming to an finish.

Yesterday A Bola had a small piece saying we could be interested and had approached Sporting to know the price. Sporting are for now sticking on his buy-out clause which is €80m, twice what he's worth. The problem is Sporting would only receive €40m, the other half has to be paid to Famalicão who hold 50% of his registration.

We were said to be monitoring Manuel Ugarte but it looks like Chelsea have agreed to pay Sporting €60m. Sporting are looking to use €20m to buy Viktor Gyokeres  of play-off flops, we'll be back just don't know when Coventry City.

One player who could be interesting for us if the headlines are correct is Feyenoord's Kokçu who is seen as the ideal replacement for Enzo Fernández at Benfica. €25m being quoted as the price. Anybody know anything about him?

We were being linked with him a couple of months ago. Those that have seen him said he would be a good signing. Think Arsenal have been linked with him (but the London press link them and Tottenham to everyone).

The amusing thing about the bold bit is that Sporting will be one of the first clubs to sit there whining about how much English clubs are spending, & how it is "ruining the game", yet when it comes to selling to us, they instantly double or triple the price.

They could  have bought Famalicão's share by now.

Chelsea have a bloated squad now, having missed out on Europe, indeed they already seem have started a fire sale with a few players seemingly heading to Manchester United and Manchester City.

Looking at who might be available, I wouldn't mind us bidding for Pulisic. I know he hasn't pulled up any trees at Chelsea, but he looked good at the world cup, clearly has a lot of talent and would suit our system.

Other players that I think we could realistically get are Wan Bissaka from Man Utd (good player and would suit Emery's asymmetric fullback style as more defensive minded) and Zaha on a free who would be an exciting signing.

From the relegated clubs I would love Maddison but not seen any links. Ward-Prowse is a good player, and Gnonto is a superb prospect.
