Are we still the second best side after the recent road bump (1 point from 9)?

I stand by my knowledge of a Chelsea player potentially arriving, but everything else is based on developed notions or hearing/reading that a player is linked and think the player could/would be excellent for us here, and I leave the door open for discussion on them.

Is it the same Chelsea contact who told you that Potter was in abslutely no danger of the sack and was going to be given 3-4 years to turn things round?!

Ouch.

We're the 2nd best side in the league since 2023 ticked into life. Only Man City have taken more points. 2nd best defence too.

Whoever we add, it's going to be to some very strong foundations.

Yep, that's the exciting thing really.  Anyone coming in is going to have to be better than those we currently have, who you rightly point out have been largely very good under Unai Emery.

That hopefully bodes well for the calibre of player we will be looking to bring in.
Which I think reduces the number and type of player we will be bringing in.
I think it will be 3 or 4 first team ready and maybe a couple with potential.
It will be interesting to see if we lose any of our first team regulars as there will definitely be interest from the usual suspects.
The most likely are SJM Watkins Martinez  IMO.

Wotto Footy!

Why don't you instead just look at 2-3 that you think would be both feasible and really interesting? Rather than the lazy ones every man and his canine are coming up with.

Exactly this, post a smaller list of players you'd actually like to see us sign or players that you think we will genuinely be trying to get.

For example you've mentioned Asensio a few times, that's a good link that has been shared by a few sources, he'd be a great fit, he's available for free and may well be interested. All 3 combined make him someone worth talking about. On the other hand posting a list of names like Aubamayang, who I'd say with absolute certainty won't be coming, is pointless.

Speculating (where there's been no links, etc) is fine, but limit it to players that you actually want us sign and think could be feasible.

OK well I won't do a list of 50 but thats not because I can't.
I'll do 2 or 3 if it comes to mind before the window officially opens.
I think you two are very reasonable suggesting this. And will find some players that interest me.

Footy-Vill you are free to post what you like, share your thoughts and speculate as much as possible.
Of course, you are also free to take a break till early August if you so wish.

I could come up with 4,000 names.

I won't though, but it's not because I can't.

Just wanted to clarify that.

Of course he is, but a more targeted list leads to better discussion, which is what I think he's after.

Much like our recruitment strategy, quality over quantity.

I don't know how I'm going to fair this summer. I've already picked up a nasty habit of regularly checking newsnow for articles and we've not even finished the season. All of the websites owned by the Mirror group are horrible to try and use on mobile devices.

I've been using that. It also stops you looking at the Daily Mail site.

For privacy, I tend to use:

- Vivaldi Browser (pretty decent built-in adblocker)
- PrivacyBadger (https://privacybadger.org)
- uBlock Origin (https://ublockorigin.com)

Those 3 tend to remove pretty much everything, and the number of sites you're blocked from seeing is minimal and usually restricted to very clickbaity stuff anyway.
