Add Orkun Kökçü, the Turkish playing for Feyenoord to the rumours list

That would be huge. The sort of player you'd expect Liverpool to snap up, or Dortmund to replace Bellingham with.

I'd be very surprised if we got him.

And we all said the same after Slippy was sacked. Massive summer but I do expect some boardroom interventions.

1. Stop hiring average/below average managers. Tick
2. Will they walk into the first team? If not why? Time will tell.
3. Life's too short. I'm a muiti-billionaire, I love and understand football, maybe I need to have a word..

The comment that Emery made recently was telling that all players are upgradable.

Also the most accented surname we've ever had?

I don't know about accents, but Richard Dunne was pretty onomatopoeic by the time he left us.

Mika Aaritalo must have had a few.

Onana has been linked with Chelsea (let's face it, they need another midfielder).

It will be interesting to see if we do send Duran out on loan. It would be unusual to spend £18m on a young talent and loan them out. Presumably his salary is high enough that we would have to supplement it too. Normally that only happens with players who's moves have failed. As long as we're in Europe next season, we could start with Archer and Duran for a lot of the games.

I think JWP is under-rated. We may well be playing 3 games a week so we need to be able to rotate without the overall levels dropping.

I can't imagine Beckham as a wing-back. Part of what made Beckham was having Gary Neville supporting him and making overlaps for him. Their combination has been one of the best in the modern game.

When you talk about the death of 4-4-2, I assume you mean a flat 4 with 2 out and out strikers. As a variant of a 4-4-2 has taken us on a 10 game unbeaten run!

Duran definitely needs a loan, he needs to play week in, and week out in English football like Archer is doing now.

If Middlesbrough don't go up, I'd be inclined to send him up there for a season and we have Archer back.

I’d want to see if a Carrick goes to Spammers first and also whether we are in Europe…if we are then there will be plenty of football for him with carabao / Prem and Europe

Two things I’ve read already this morning - Bayern in for Watkins … and Chelsea fans thinking they’ll get Martinez cos he’d be cheap as a non elite goalkeeper! The arrogance….. and of course Chelsea have done so well with their “elite” players haven’t they? Emi won the World Cup ffs

For the first time in a long while I’m genuinely excited that we are going to buy some seriously good players this summer..

The difference this time is that we will be recruiting to fit the manager’s plan rather than buying anybody we can to fill you know who’s shoes

Me too. Feeling pretty elated all things villa (except when I look at the Purslow thread here). It sure beats almost a decade and a half of the wilderness years.

Looking at the squad we have no players except Emi that other supporters would call world class, but Emery has built a very competative team with the emphasis on team, so its important that the players he gets in will fit into the team structure rather than the price tag.

You'd think a club the size of Bayern would be aware that Watkins has just become a father again.  ;)
