Wasn't Maddison going into the last year of his contract?

Agreed about Eze though. Thought he was very good. I'm not sure how much our recruitment are looking at stand-out Championship players, we seem to have moved away from that. But players like Eze, Olise and Toney (Division One player when Brentford signed him) will come through and with a bit more development can become very good players without spending a fortune.

Saw this morning that Frank has said they'd be willing to sell Toney if the right offer came in. They want 60mil for him.

£60m would be good value in today's market.

By the way, who said that Joao Felix wasn't any good?

I wonder if looking at the players who left this window for "bigger" clubs would put Ferguson off moving so soon? Early days, I know, but MacAllister and Caicedo haven't had amazing starts with their new clubs. Would be nice to see Brighton be able to hold on to a player for once.

I can't recall too many players turning down the chance of playing CL football.

Caicedo isn't playing in any European football this season, let alone Champions League.
Chelsea have provided confirmation this summer (if any was needed) that players will go anywhere if the money is obscene enough.

That would be an excellent buy.

No one, we all thought he was silky and sexy. Why, what's he done?

Ferguson's meant to already be on  Man City's radar. If we offered £35m for him, it would be a very short conversation and the last word would probably be 'off'.

Now watching him at the weekend....Eze is one I'd love to go for eventually. Guess we might have to wait for Palace to get relegated and then snap him up for 40m or so like Spurs did with Maddison but he's a very very good player in the making with wonderful technique and could see him linking up so well with a Diaby type forward.

Watching Eze on Saturday made me pine for him/Grealish but I guess we don't need to rely on a tricky ball-carrier so much now with a midfield and attack that is pretty fluid in knowing their roles and all capable of doing multiple things. JJ kind of provides that directness, not so much in tricks, but certainly in end-product.

As for Palace, I can't see them going down for a long time. They're the midtabliest of them all. Howe will throw in a panicky Newcastle offer next Jan/summer if he's still there for £66.67m.

At some point though they're not going to be able to rely on calling Roy out of retirement to keep them there.

Seems like every time they try any other manager they screw it up, he comes back and keeps it ticking over for a couple more years, rinse and repeat.

Maybe..I think they had enough quality under Vieria to be ok. He seemed to get canned after a difficult run of games with plenty of the season still to go, playing direct rivals.

I can't think of anyone who'd take the gamble at that price.

Saw this on BBC website. Thought it was worth sharing given our own links with Abraham this summer.

Roma are keen to turn 30-year-old Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku's loan from Chelsea into a permanent deal and may offer England striker Tammy Abraham, 25, in part-exchange. (Calciomercatoweb - in Italian)
