And I took my lad for the first time, he loved it and I loved him loving it.

It’s great isn’t it?
I’ve been taking mine since he was 5 and now he’s 28 and we still love it.

That’s one of the nicest things I’ve read on this site.

Just thinking that myself.

Bailey made the first with a killer ball across the six yard box for Luiz.

Yeah I mean Bailey get an assist, as did Ollie, and Buendia scored. It’s a bit harsh to say they didn’t turn up.

I mostly agree, I'd honestly not give anyone less than a 7 for today. I do find Buendia frustrating though, he gets bounced off the ball too many times, often because he looks up and wants too much time to pick a pass.

What we did really well today was dragging their midfield out of shape, we baited them superbly by moving the ball up field and then making them think they were pressing us back into our own half before we went through them into the space between midfield and defence. That sort of play to manipulate teams is clearly what Emery has been focusing on in attack and we're getting better and better at doing it. It will really help us handle the 'park the bus' teams at villa park.

We've won 3-0. Is it just us that has to mention who we thought didn't play well enough?

No, that’s just part of football discussion. We played a side bottom three and unlike many Villa sides of the past we dispatched them professionally. But there is room for improvement. Everyone is happy with the result but certain players will need to be improved upon for us to challenge at the top. For me upgrade at CB and on the wing for sure.

Please don't patronise me.  People saying Buendia wasn't up to par today - well, apart from the goal.
And the three great chances he created. 2 of them gilt edged

I thought Buendia showed all the reasons we paid £40m for him, and all the reasons no one else wanted to.  Very good in patches when the game is stretched, some really poor decisions and technique when the game was tight. He just makes the wrong choices far too often, lets hope he learns more from Phil who doesn’t.

Good display for me, think we have to credit the players for adapting quickly to Emery was of playing…think as a crowd we still have a way to go as it is frustrating when the ball just sticks at the back.

My motm was McGinn, obv had the iffy moment when he was given the hospital ball out from the back.   Thought he set the pace of play, Luiz very good too.

Martinez - stunning, stunnng save from free kick
Cash - lively, little frustrating that he gets so little ball from Konsa.
Moreno - good, wonder if he’ll be used wide left with a Digne behind?
Konsa - for me the weak link across back, doesn’t use the ball at all well, was caught out by Solanke running time and again, made a few great tackles though.
Mings - competent, would have loved him to have got that goal.
McGinn - MotM for me - always at his best using that ass
Luiz - close second to McGinn
Ramsey - not quite back to his best but good to see him running with the ball
Buendia - does some nice stuff but is knocking off ball, dispossessed way way way too easily too often
Bailey - lovely assist when he got his head up but is yards behind in the head, little to no anticipation and not enough of that end product from goal one.
Watkins - worked hard and was a threat, two reasons the hypocrite won’t pick him for England, how dare he be on form.

Nice to see the applause for Brooks & can see Solanke being a very useful signing for someone if they go down, looks to finally be adapting to the PL and goals should follow.

Our set pieces were very good today, Rick Wakeman has had a very good week planning them with the team.

It really was very comfortable but with some very good individual performances thrown in. Mcginn and Luiz were superb and Moreno is getting better.. I thought Billing for them was decent. One to look at?

Thought Solanke was the pick of theirs, some very smart runs in  behind us, fucked up the big chance though when Tyrone got back to block the shot he should have took much earlier.

Three valuable points. Decent performance considering Buendia, Bailey and Watkins didn't turn up. Mings, McGinn, Ramsey, Dougie, Emi, Cash, Moreno and even Konsa all played their part. Despite not being at our best we were rarely troubled thanks to the defence and midfield.

The less said about the penalties the better. I no longer have a clue what does and doesn't now qualify as a penalty, it's like the rules change every week.

I haven’t read all the thread so maybe someone else has already picked you up, but Watkins played really well.

Is that the same Bailey who assisted the first goal, Watkins who assisted the second goal, and Buendia who scored the third goal? 🤡

Billing is a decent player but he wouldn't get anywhere near our midfield for me.
