I was pretty certain he'd miss last night and I was 100m away in the north stand. As soon as he started the stuttering run up i thought, that's just not him.

There are really 5 options with a penalty - top left / right, bottom left/right and high down the middle. Low down the middle has a much lower success rate and I'm amazed he went for that.

Apparently discounting shoot outs Ollie has missed 7 out of 13

It's easy to focus on that one stat, but look at the way he puts the ball on the spot. We've had very few players over the years who could do that. It's a bit lazy to focus on the outcome so much.

He could try and get an assist like Pires sort of tried and failed to do with Henry.

You could tell he was going to miss it, he looked very nervous. Not what you want to see from a penalty taker.

As for hitting it low down the middle, that's rarely going to work as it'll always hit the keeper's trailing legs. You have to lift it. I always remember Dwight Yorke's dink against, I think Sheffield United? That was pure class.

I voted for Tielemans.

I was at that game, I’m sure there was snow on the ground.
That was Yorke in his absolute pomp. Pure class.

Sancho successfully has converting 10 and missing 1  but the player has to be a starter/regular so maybe Youri for me but wouldnt have a problem with sancho if youri isnt playing.

Didn't someone say Youri has missed 4 of his last 5?

In open play yes. Assuming transfermkt are corrrect, he scored for Leicester in Sept 2022 and then scored for Belgium early this month and had 4 in between. (2 for Leicester, one for Belgium and one for us).

Seem to remember he did the same against David Seaman / Arsenal too. He was brilliant around then.

Edit: here it is …

Was in the north stand upper, right in the centre 2 rows from the front. It was utterly magnificent.

Surely sancho has to be given the responsibility now

Has Digne ever taken one? Seems a good fit to me.
