Oleen and Viljay on the bench today.

Possible indication that Olsen's dropping down the pecking order as back up keeper to Emi?

Sinisalo is now Finland's 1st choice keeper.

Has there been any official comment about the bench? Only naming 8 instead of 9, and two of them being keepers? Why no U21s to make up the numbers? Where was KKH?

We had 9.

Olsen, Sinisalo, Cash, Chambers, Revan, Dendoncker, Sanson, Coutinho and Young.

Problem is Smithy, reporters don't ask the right questions.  You raise a really interesting point.

Ah, Revan isn't listed on the BBC report, so thought it was only 8.  Glad there was another youngster out there making up the numbers.

Utterly cheated by the worthless cheating ****ing ****s officiating today.

Villa cheating every time they got tackled got them the three points despite being by far the worst team we’ve seen at St Mary’s this season.

 Utter ****ing scandal.

Filthy Drone dork Scummers.  Get in the Solent.

I know all clubs have them, but in my experience Saints have a disproportionate number of salty fans. Like I said, it might have been the right decision but I’d have been annoyed about the VAR call - I do get that. But more broadly than that we were the much better side and the ref gave them plenty.

He's not listed on the official website or on the guardian either.

I thought both Cash and Coutinho had little impact off the bench. I'm not sure what Cash was at late on when he had possession in the corner. Went for a cross to noone and they had a counter attack off the back of it. The Donk was ok in his cameo, at least won a few balls.

Dominated/controlled the game yet two or three key decisions went for us so you could argue we also rode our luck. A lot is being said about grinding out results but one thing that a perhaps hasn't been mentioned is under Unai we've also massive improved some of our shithousery. Time wasting, delaying play, picking up 'injuries'. slowing the game down to suit us, yes, we play nicer football now, more controlling football, but we're also much cuter.

Clever of Unai also to show the lack of depth on the bench naming two goalkeepers. I would be disappointed if we didn't see 2 or 3 come in between now and the end of the window, if not transfers, certainly loans.

Assume he got an injury in the warm-up? Or maybe something more mundane like a mix-up with his paperwork - not sure he's been on the bench for us before in the league?

I don't think we rode our luck at all.

The first 'goal' was clearly offside - two of their players.

The VAR intervention, he pushed Ramsey AND clipped his foot.

Decisions being correct isn't riding our luck.

Yep correct. Like I said, I can understand being frustrated with the VAR call but it is the right decision. It’s weird headlines like, “officials deny Saints” - yes in the sense they made the correct decisions!

I cannot understand the frustration. The correct calls were made. Eventually. VAR actually worked...

Brilliant win.
Congratulations to the manager and players for grinding out a deserved win. We rode our luck, played some fluid stuff and our quality gave us the edge to take the 3 points.

Certain players could do with a little improvement here and there but the togetherness, spirit and fight we showed !

Foxes will be shitting themselves after we get a 2 week break, regroup and take them apart at VP at something different called a Saturday 3pm kick off at home.

Saddlers will soften them up for us

Scrappy game but no doubting we deserved the win. Incomprehensible how different we look in such a short space of time thanks to Emery.
