I always thought it was "we'll sing in assembly".

Just found this.....

Bow Bells are ringing, for the Claret and Blue,
Bow Bells are ringing, for the Claret and Blue,
When the Hammers are scoring, and the South Bank are roaring,
And the money is pouring, for the Claret and Blue,
Claret and Blue,
No relegation for the Claret and Blue,
Just celebration for the Claret and Blue,
One day we'll win a cup or two, or three,
Or four or more, for West Ham and the Claret and Blue.

Sorry if has been mentioned before. This was a song from the early 80's ?  "Villa score, Villa score once you get one you'll get more ,will sing you assembly when we get to Wembley."

I remember that being sung during an awful spell around 1979 when we just couldn’t buy a goal. Finally broke the deadlock with a 3-0 at home to Southampton but the song stuck for a while.
One we could revive if someone can rework the bit where they sing "will sing you assembly" cos it makes no sense and messes with my ocd

I remember it being “we’ll see you /your assembly” which makes no sense either. Always annoyed me too!

Bells is a proper old school Villa song and most of us of a certain age have fond memories of it. Not sure how well it works in 2023 though.

Spot on.

It's not that old school though is it, early 90s saw it's inception I think? maybe it was late 80's.

Much earlier, Bren. I've mentioned it before but we sang TBAR non-stop on the Sutton Lions coach all the way back from Norwich in 84.

Oh and we won..

Sang it for ages in the second half too. Villa everywhere that night. A bit different from the FA Cup replay just before. About 250 of us that night.

That makes sense with the Bow Bells reference.
So did we copy them or did they copy us?

They only started a couple of years ago.
Probably oblivious to our history with the song.

I doubt it. The South Bank was the old Bobby Moore stand at Upton park, and it hasn't been called that for decades.

For reasons I can't remember, I went to that game with the Sutton Lions. All other away trips were either on the train or someone drove.

Absolutely brilliant trip - one of the best I can remember. Stopped after the game in a pub for hours with hundreds of Villa fans. ;D

Yup. If you remember we only left the pub as they'd run out of beer. As you say, an absolutely brilliant away day. Up there in my favourites too.

Or 'When the Hammers are scoring, and the Bobby Moore are roaring' doesn't quite sound right.
Where's Sendo when you need him? Nevermind.

I didn't remember that - which suggests I may have played my part ;).

Though I was a youngster, 18 or 19, so I would have been drinking the cooking lager. I had the good sense to migrate to decent beer a year or two later. UTV.

You can moan all you like about the songs we sing but the horrendous DJ at this fan park in Alkmaar is playing some absolute Blues. It’s like the worst cheese imaginable current track is Take That. Fucking Hell.
