I'm not a fan of us using Hi Ho Silver lining. it's always felt like it was a decision in the marketing department to play it... It has no connection with us and Wolves used it well before we did.

Be nice to sing it on Friday in honour of Jeff Beck, but after than can we bin it?
I totally agree. I absolutely hate this song and wish we would drop it, I wince when I hear it

I don't think we will ever agree on an anthem. HEITS is our chant, can't see there ever being a consensus on an anthem. We have so many connections to bands like Sabbath and Duran Duran with villa fans...but alas nothing that would stick as ours.

Stop flashing the lights and play TFAUSM just before/as the teams come out, that’s it, really not that difficult.
That's what a lot of us old fuckers and traditionalists would like.  But the reality is the majority of the people in the stadium under 40 probably don't even know what it is and if they heard it would be all like yknow wtf?

I’m well over 40 and I think wtf when I hear it. It should be put in Room 101 with rickets, Wagon Wheels and Tory Economic competence.

I don't particulalry like it but you can't deny it is taken up pretty loudly in the stands before the game.  I really wish they wouldn't play it after though, I'd much prefer to not play anything and let the fans show appreciation as they wish, not be drowned out by that.

As for HEITS it's not sung much and never very loudly.  I doubt many away fans would even recognise it let alone think of it as an anthem.  TBAR is never sung any more, which is a shame as that did feel like our song.

It is a shame. No better anthem, as anyone at the Norwich League Cup quarter final in ‘84 will attest.

Yes TBAR is the only real Villa song.

It's a bit late to be inventing an anthem I think. Don't Look Back in Anger seemed in danger of taking off at one point, but thankfully that nonsense seems to have died down a bit.

If I owned Villa I'd be blasting out The Twang's 'Either Way' 5 times a game until it started to sink in. As I may have mentioned on more than one occasion.

If we were ever going to have an anthem it should be TBAR, not difficult words, no swearing so good for the kids and it’s about us. Also it’s not like 90% of other chants in that it’s pretty unique to us.

As I’ve also said many times before the walk out music should be Keep
On Running by the Spencer Davis Group. Good bass line which gets people clapping along and I’m sure some bright spark can think up some suitably simple words so we can all sing along.

And here's the problem, there's just no accounting for taste when trying to force a song on the fans.  I only hear a cheesy song and an Andrex advert when I listen to this.

Backfired? It just didnt get taken up but its not like they persevered with it though.

Let me rephrase, they messed it up. Instead of letting the fans sing it they played it over the PA system with a loud bell ringing. It didn't really translate.

I like the fact that we don't have an anthem and would hate anything to be imposed on the fans rather than growing organically. One listen to what Arsenal do before home games will tell you how bad in can turn out.

DLBIA was of it's time and was taken up by chance due to the circumstances at the time, but that time has passed. Ditto Sweet Caroline.

The lights and music thing does nothing for me compared to a simple outing for TFAUSL, but then I'm hardly the target audience given my misanthropic tendancies. I love the Bells, my finest memory of it is us raising the roof with it in the old Anfield Road Stand just before Deano scored the winner but if the fans don't want to know then so be it.

I love the new flashing lights and I love Crazy Train belted out.

I'm nearly 42.

I'm eighteen and I need my heroines.
