OK.OK. I may be prepared to accept that my tantrum on Sunday night was a tad over the top, and Unai may have had a point.

Perhaps.

Just superb. Deserved the criticism last weekend but deserves every bit of praise for a complete masterclass this evening

Still think we could have got 10 on Sunday and still done it today. Just need to ensure we aren't on the beach this Sunday though. Rest the players against Liverpool and Citeh instead.

Unai Emery has managed in 46% of the Europa League finals since 2014.

Emery has reached 6 finals with 4 different clubs in the space of 13 seasons.  Sevilla 2014, 2015, 2016, Arsenal 2019, Villarreal 2021, Aston Villa 2026. He's won 4/5 so far.

I was one who doubted the Lindelof selection call and the throwing of the Spurs game...but Emery knows his onions. Smash Burnley and off to Istanbul. We have been the best team in the EL by miles and just need to go one and prove it in the final.

I’m embarrassed to have slated Unai (many times) but tonight he got it spot on. He is clearly our best manager for a very long time, I just wish we played that way more often.

Emery: “Europe for me is very important.  My first press conference here I was speaking about Europe and trophies. It’s very difficult to get trophies & be consistent in Europe like we are. It’s through our hard work. “Today I think the players, they got their best today."

Emery, when asked about the players being extremely fired up: "Yes, yes. They were so so focused and aware of the momentum. We planned before, emotionally, how we were playing the match. It was the only match we played with these circumstances."

Emery: "Lindelof is a fantastic guy, fantastic professional. He has experience. It was not necessary to explain a lot to him. I decided, after a while analysing everything deeply, to play with him. My expectation about his performance playing was more or less like he did."

We don't currently have the players to put in that intensity all the time as proven in the Conference League season when we were playing like that most weeks and almost lost it all due to tiredness.
