Jimoh looked the better bet for first team minutes, from a limited sample, admittedly.

Not just the goal, but the directing running when he came on and his willingness to get shots off.
our sideways slowball would soon have knocked that out of him

That is probably the reason he was sent straight out on loan, not adhering to the 'structure or control', direct running and getting shots off, totally not in the script!

Maybe Emery has lost the plot.
Stuff I am struggling to understand.
Watkins playing regardless to a level of ineptitude it has become an embarrassment.
Buying then not playing Tammy, what was the point?
Selling Malen.
Not playing Lindelof.
Sticking with a 2 man defensive midfield which is obviously not working.
Playing Bailey.

When I arrived here, I shared my dream - to play in Europe. Now it’s no longer a dream - it's the standard, almost an obligation, but surely a responsibility. That's the level. That's what the club is becoming.

Unai Emery has reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League for the eighth time, no other manager has done so more than five times.

Aston Villa will be the fifth club the Spaniard will take into this round of the competition, after Valencia (twice), Sevilla (three times), Arsenal and Villarreal.

He has won the tournament three times with Sevilla and once with Villarreal.

If he wins the competition, we could be 10th for all I would care about the league.

And yes, we should never have sold Ramsey.

… I expect Unai wouldn’t have chosen to sell him either.

We need a fourth European competition to get to the quarters of, it will be boring doing one of these again.
