Bogarde was getting minutes earlier in the season when we had a full strength midfield, not seeing him at all now we’re threadbare, I don’t get it?

Maybe it's because he gets more exposed in a poor side. Personally, I'd play him alongside Luiz on Wednesday, with Barkley ahead of them, because he'd keep his deep position and break up Chelsea attacks.

To say we’ve mostly been crap for alot of the season is just wrong. The premier league is the most competitive league going and the lower to mid ranking clubs are much stronger this season. To put together the winning run we did considering our poor summer window and poor start to the season was a tremendous credit to all involved. They may not always have been the most domineering of performances in some of those wins but that’s because there are another team trying to impose themselves. We’ve been relying on players like Buendia that we would happily have moved on and others who were unwanted elsewhere like Sancho and Lindelof to do so. We haven’t had the benefit of throwing £150m on 3 players that the Sky 6 clubs can despite dreadful seasons.

Friday and Man Utd’s results should be a massive massive wake up to everyone. It was a dreadful result, performance, team selection and game management. It will either be the moment that fully derailed our season or the moment where it kicks on. But it’s going to require some strong decisions from the manager and a number of change because Friday was not out of the blue. The warning signs had been there for weeks.

I would play Bogarde and alongside Onana. Push Luiz into the '10' position

Put Rogers on the left. Alysson on the right and play Ollie for 60 minutes with the chance of getting him some half decent service.

Bogarde is serving a rest of the season ban for that pass against Newcastle.

If there’s one thing that royally pisses me off about this run it’s that it just proves the doubters in the media totally right.  And all those big sky wankers now think all is right with the world again.

I agree, a bunch of know-nothing divs believing they've been proven right irritates me far, far more than it really should

Unai is stubborn as hell, but has the tools to have turned this round against Leeds and Wolves, but his own belligerence has prevented it. Has to sort it for Wednesday night. Simple things. Rogers is not a 10. Watkins is not a premier league centre forward at the moment. Buendia is not good enough to start but can create chaos from the bench. Barkley can play 10 but can't run so struggles at 6. Konsa isn't a captain. All of these things are easily rectified.

Oh and Unai.. Leon Bailey is not a footballer anymore. Accept this and put a kid on the bench, it's more use.

Yep, fully agree with all of the above. We all appreciate the problems with injuries but the set up and some of the subs have been barmy.

He does seem a little lost at the moment.  Is the three year Villa cycle going to break the even the best manager we have had for decades?

A perfect summing up of the current malaise.

We'll find out on Wednesday whether Emery is drawing similar conclusions....

Yep. Agreed Ozz. Been saying the same thing. His stubbornness has got us this for but it will be his undoing also. If he picks Ollie again on Wednesday and Buendia he will have learned nothing. At this point we may as well try something different. Greater risk for reward of scoring a goal. That would be nice. But it will flatten the feeling amongst fans to see him start the same players in attack. We cannot afford to do that.

He could also tell Watkins the keeper is always standing just inside the far post. Expect at least 15 goals between now and the end of the season.

He'll still hit the keeper. He's pre programmed to shoot meekly down the keepers throat 8/10 times.
