To say we’ve mostly been crap for alot of the season is just wrong. The premier league is the most competitive league going and the lower to mid ranking clubs are much stronger this season. To put together the winning run we did considering our poor summer window and poor start to the season was a tremendous credit to all involved. They may not always have been the most domineering of performances in some of those wins but that’s because there are another team trying to impose themselves. We’ve been relying on players like Buendia that we would happily have moved on and others who were unwanted elsewhere like Sancho and Lindelof to do so. We haven’t had the benefit of throwing £150m on 3 players that the Sky 6 clubs can despite dreadful seasons.
Friday and Man Utd’s results should be a massive massive wake up to everyone. It was a dreadful result, performance, team selection and game management. It will either be the moment that fully derailed our season or the moment where it kicks on. But it’s going to require some strong decisions from the manager and a number of change because Friday was not out of the blue. The warning signs had been there for weeks.
