When you look at the 2 squads there is no way we should be losing to Wolves.
It was the wrong team with the wrong tactics and compounded by the wrong substitutions.
I am afraid that is down to the manager.

The players on the pitch on Friday were more than good enough to beat the worst team in the league. That they didn’t is down to them.
Selection tactics instructions and motivation is down to the manager.
The decision to change them during the game is also down to the manager.

It’s obviously a combination of both. The players user underperforming, but at this specific time the tactical approach feels a bit off. It happens, even with top coaches like Unai.

The important thing is that Friday has to be the collective wake up call that we need to change how we’re going about things. Most apparent is we need to start games much faster and with more intent.

Bloody hell, it’s been like a Victorian melodrama on here last few days.

We’re going through a bad patch. It happens to every club, every season. We’ll be fine.

Nah, I just think it’s a cop out and lets the players off the hook for their poor performance and failure to impose themselves on the game. You don’t get to be third in the table with inept tactics, motivation and selection decisions.

Usually i would agree but our performances most of the season  have been average  to poor. We also went 2 down to salzburgs youngsters lets not forget.

The wolves result was very very worrying. This is a big problem  epic  when you see the fixtures we still have left.

I cannot believe we mustered 1 point vs leeds brentford everton and wolves.

Thats shocking

I do think it's a bit more than a bad patch. It's a relegation set of results and performances. Which doesn't mean it'll go on, but fuck me it's been as bad as I can remember since, shall we say, our second season back up.

It's pretty similar to the first 5 games really.  The difference now is that we're trying to recover without our 3 most important players.  It's pretty concerning in the context of what this season could've been and what it might end up being.

I understand the anger after Friday, it was pretty absymal lets be honest but when you have posters saying the perfomances have been average and poor most of the season (hello, we won 11 in a row and got to third) then that's when it gets silly.

I always leave it for a few days after we get beat before looking on here. TBH, I was unusually upset watching the game Friday, the most since Stevie G turned me off for a while. Its always a good idea to wait a few days and appreciate where we were for so long. Even if we do not win anything or qualify for Europe, we can reflect on what a transformation has occurred.
The downs today pale in comparison to the last two decades before Smith came along.

It's an old adage, but be careful what you wish for. At the start of the season there was much talk about the end of an era, we've gone as far as we can etc etc.

We still sit 3rd so to suggest we've been crap most of the season is fanciful.

I've lost count of the amount of times Emery has made me eat my words, on team selection in particular, and I hope he does it perpetually.

I don’t buy we have been crap most of the season, we did win some games without playing particularly well but we did show a resilience that is now lacking

The worry is that we seem a bit stuck and unable to compensate for the missing players. It’s also obvious that we need to change something because if we carry on with the same set up we will get the same results and CL qualification will be over.

Agree that we havent been crap most of the season, thats just a melodramatic re-writing of history. I also agree with need to change something.
Not necessarily the answer, but I’d start with Abraham for Ollie and Barkley for Beundia, with Eni B an impact change and Alysson the go to sub for Sancho……and hope for the best

Yes, the key is midfield, we need to somehow strengthen our ability with and without the ball in that area.
Watkins has to be dropped.

I think  thats about right. We're not crap and we havent been crap. It just needs some adjustment and a whole lot fucking better that it was against Wolves.
