Another thing he would hate is the press intrusion. He just about manages the inane clichéd pressers and post-match interviews at Villa but you can tell he holds them with a withering disregard.

At Madrid, quotes from him taken out of context or comments from "experts" about him judging every facet of his management and personality would be screaming from Marca et al on a daily basis.

He might be at an age where he just can't be fucked with that level of unwanted interference.

The truth is none of us really know whether he would take it. Hopefully they won't offer him the job, though if he did go there it would be less of a kick in the bollocks than seeing him leave us for Man U or Liverpool, for instance.

In fact, it makes so much sense that the only time i get remotely worried about him leaving is when discussions about Pep's future come up.  If they come for him in the summer the only thing thats keeping  him here is the 'unfinished business' angle.

But that assumes Man City will keep that model and not switch to a more “sustainable” model.  In addition it assumes that he doesn’t see more enjoyment from playing the game on hard mode.
Finally it assumes that Man City aren’t relegated to the conference due to cheating

This (at best) half-story seems to have unsettled a few.  Until Villa have won some trophies, Emery will be here.  I can’t imagine him going to Man City or any other British club at all.  Pretty much the only club I’d be nervous about would Barcelona.

I just don’t see it. After the nightmare of going straight in after Arsène Wenger, why would he walk into the same situation at Man City and be the first manager after Guardiola? I can actually see them hiring Vincent Kompany for that difficult ‘post-Pep’ transition period. It’s a big no-no for him and from me.

A very valid point.

Also, as others have pointed out, City built their current model in order to get Pep on board, so I suppose there's no guarantee they'll stick to it once hes gone. And the links to Maresca suggest they'd be looking at a 'company man' from the current regime (comedy option - Arteta).
