I know the Champions league was the be all and end all for PSG but they say Unai wasn’t successful there yet he won 7 trophies
don’t seem to shabby to me

He may well take it, but I honestly can't think of a worse fit than the brattiest, whiniest Real Madrid squad in ages (think of the ground that covers).

Can you really see Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior responding to the demanding in his way, putting up with the continuous reinforcement of the system?

Presumably Mbappé did last time he was playing for Emery.

I'm not all that sure he did. The one season they were there together was probably Mbappe's least productive season, going off the numbers at least. Although obviously he was still very young.  Cavani was the standout player for PSG over Emery's two seasons there.

Also I didn't realise that Adrian Rabiot played nearly every game for PSG during Emery's time there.

Considering he's been available on a free twice while Emery's been here, bit of surprise we've not been linked more with him.

Get the impression that if you've spent two years around Adrian Rabiot you might not be interested in a third.

I think the critical issue here is that at Villa Unai is being constrained by the financial issues.

Let’s hope they listen to ‘European football expert’ Kevin Hatchard:

“Unai Emery leaving #avfc to join Real Madrid would be a lose-lose for everyone. Villa would lose an extraordinary coach, Emery wouldn’t get the control he enjoys at Villa, and his demanding methods would be resisted by Real Madrid’s players. It would be a disaster.”

I get the feeling that any sensible management at Real Madrid would look at how Emery likes to do things and conclude it's not an ideal fit at this point in time - but Real Madrid and 'sensible' might as well be in different galaxies at this point.

I think it would come down to what Emery decides he gets most reward from at this point in his career:

On one hand: He'd certainly win stuff (if not fired within the first few months from a player revolt) and earn a lot of money.
On the other hand: He wouldn't have the control he wants to build a group over time, and would certainly have to deal with a pile personal and political drama almost every single day, without the support of his circle of people at Villa.

The RM job will com up 10 times over the rest of his career, why he would walk into this particular vipers nest that already have 2 great managers sacked is difficult to understand.

Not sure he’d be top of Reals list, but if he were I would fully expect him to take the job. He is very driven and whilst I’m sure he’d feel a bit like unfinished business at Villa, he’d also see it as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

We should always have our eyes on the next manager and it can’t be one of these up and coming sorts, we must go big and send a message to the world, we ain’t going back to being a middling prem team.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but he strikes me as someone that would get more personal satisfaction finishing 3rd with us and winning a cup than he would winning everything with Real Madrid.
