Does Monchi being kept on in an advisory capacity mean we don’t have to pay off his contract? Or does it not work like that?
That's the way I read it. You don't go out of your way to appoint a Basque friend and former teammate of Unai Emery if your imminent plans involve sacking Unai Emery.
When we sack Unai in a few weeks the new bloke will be the new manager. Same as when SGT2 took over.

He follows Unai everywhere he goes and has found some right shite, notable at Arsenal...Bernd Leno, Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Nicolas Pépé, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Denis Suárez...Saliba being the only good'un out of that lot.Nothing wrong with Leno, Martinelli, Guendouzi, Tierney was ok before injuries. The list seems 50/50 to me.
