That's the way I read it. You don't go out of your way to appoint a Basque friend and former teammate of Unai Emery if your imminent plans involve sacking Unai Emery.

Does Monchi being kept on in an advisory capacity mean we don’t have to pay off his contract? Or does it not work like that?

That’s just an agreed gesture to put a nice spin on things.

I imagine he'll be an advisor until the end of his contract. Without doing much advising.

He'll be advising people on how his gardening is going.

It’s a bit of a relief to be reminded of this, with some lurid doommongering going on out there in social media land.

When we sack Unai in a few weeks the new bloke will be the new manager. Same as when SGT2 took over.

 I’m worried again.

I'd give Alberto Benito ( chief scout ) the kick as well. He follows Unai everywhere he goes and has found some right shite, notable at Arsenal...Bernd Leno, Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Nicolas Pépé, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Denis Suárez...Saliba being the only good'un out of that lot.
Nothing wrong with Leno, Martinelli, Guendouzi, Tierney was ok before injuries. The list seems 50/50 to me.

Wouldn’t this guy be the scout that watches future opposition rather than part of the recruitment team?  I’ve no idea just not seen the name before in this context.

Regardless, it was widely reported that Emery (Benito?) wanted Zaha but the club over ruled them and signed Pepe. Ceballos was a loan right and currently plays for Real Madrid.  There’s some misses yes, but I wouldn’t say that list is a sacking offence,

Yeah but I meant more if he gets paid to do that, we might not have to pay the remainder of his contract. So won’t have that on Villa’s expenses.

I don’t know what I’m talking about mind, unless that wasn’t clear.
