Malden played well last season.  Guessard has played 3 games.  Matasaan and onnana have both looked very good at times.

Some of those won’t work out - but I think the 2 newest need time and the other 2 have done ok

A big part of the problem appears to be down to Monchi and Damien thinking they could play the system and get away with it.
The shenanigans with youth/reserve players being traded for overinflated prices is one of the drivers behind the restrictions UEFA have placed us under.

Guessand on £90k a week is madness. How stupid can you get?

That’s the going rate for a player doing well playing for a PL club. And £90k isn’t even that much anymore when you have players on £250k plus.

Unfortunately you have to cut your cloth and Villa are betwixt and between: they probably think we're only a couple of years off CL football again and so are trying to buy to make that a reality, when in my opinion I just don't see it again any time soon.

On Twitter a few weeks ago somebody hit the nail on the head, saying that when United pay a player 90k a week and they fail, they can stick him in the reserves or make a loss. When Villa pay 90k a week, that player has to be a better player than the one he's replacing because we can't afford for him to fail. So the balancing act is being done on a razor-wire.

Guessard has played 3 games.

He'll be fine once he says 'Hello Boys' to the rest of the squad.

I'm looking at the players. They were all elevated by Unai and got to play in the Champions League under him.

Why do they look so disinterested?

Maybe the disinterested ones assumed they'd be sold in the summer.

Maybe but they get paid well can they not just get on with the job in hand?

The pay thing isn't really relevant, but yes, you would think so. Having said that, I hate my line manager and have to drag myself to work every day, so I have a degree of understanding.

That 93% wages to revenue is based on a 13 month financial year and is before we got rid of Bailey, Ramsey, Coutinho and Dendonx this summer. We must be in the 70 percentiles now.

Mings comment of 'you don't know the half' has come home to roost...something behind the scenes has caused a huge hit to morale

I’m starting to get Everton 2016 onwards vibes I’m honest.
