He's been hamstrung by Monchi.

I’d say we’ve been hamstrung by PSR.
More like SCR now I think but……

SCR/PSR doesn’t tell us to take 10 passes to get to the half way line.
It doesn’t tell us to play at walking pace and consistently let the opposition get back into position and thereby make breaking them down even harder.

Yes, there is no doubt we have been battered by the financial constraints, but we can still attempt to play the game with a little pace, energy, movement, enthusiasm with the players we have.

I would imply, the summer’s unrest, which is down to the financial restraints has had a knock on effect with uncertainty in the camp and consequently resulting in a lack of form and cohesion.

As I said in my first reply, what has that got to do with Monchi?

Well, he’s the one in charge of managing the squad and by some accounts it was the handling of the Ramsey sale which stank the place out.

So that’s got everything to do with Monchi.

Not to mention spending how much on Onana, Maatsen, Malen and Guessand? Not far off 150m - players who do not regularly feature (I appreciate it’s an early shout on Guessand).

Its not as simple as this, but whilst Mings and Digne are clearly more solid, better defensively minded defenders, I honestly think we have to get Pau and Mastsen in the side now, in terms of moving the ball up the pitch quicker. This would be helped if we can get Kamara back in alongside Tielemans, with McGinn a bit ahead. Whilst I know people have palpitations about Pau and he’s been off form, we simply can’t create any less or move the ball from back to front any slower.

It’s good that we have a tight triumvirate running the club but two things have nagged at me about it.

If things go really well and they get an enticing offer, we lose the entire football management in one go.

If things go badly for one of them, the risk is we end up losing them all as they’re all very much tainted by association.

I imagine for example Wes and Nas are looking at the return from some of the signings and asking whether they were worth getting into PSR struggles for, and how come we are so incredibly reliant on players signed by Smith and even Bruce.

It’s very much shit or bust.

We are in Euripe and missed out on Champions League football by a incorrect refereeing decision in the last 15 minutes of the season. But we're in Europe again for our returns.

Unai has consistently got more than you’d expect from the players he’s had at his disposal. It now feels like he’s hit a brick wall with that.

Have the players stopped believing? Are they bored with all the analysis? Has Unai concentrated so much on tightening the defence that he’s completely blunted our attack? Has he stopped believing himself?

I hope it’s just a bad run and it’ll all click again, but it doesn’t have a good feeling about it.

I’m nowhere near wanting him to leave, nor do I think he’s on “borrowed time”. I have had my first real thoughts about what happens after him though, and I’m not seeing how it ends well.

We're in bad form. Its cause for frustration and annoyance, not panic or deeper meaning.

i agree , its not like we have had a transfer embargo but you look at the value for money and we have spent a lot of money on players that have not strengthened the first team.

Put me in the stick with unai camp.  No way should he be going. We have to stick together  and get through this sticky patch.

I think  monchi has more to answer fir than hnai to be honest. He made a complete  mess of this summer window

There are no camps of back the manager or not. There is a Blue Nose troll and then there are Villa fans.

I still maintain Onana and Maatsen are excellent signings so when these two are thrown about I don’t see them being part of the problem. Have we really made that many bad signings? Pau was brilliant but hasn’t found that form since injury. The jury is out for me on Malen and this summer’s signings are too soon to call.

We’re in a rut and everyone we are Monchi is the one people blame. If this is all his fault, surely the buck stops at Emery’s door?

I think the world of Emery, he’s got so much out of the players, however we’re in a rut and something isn’t working. We look out of form and out of ideas and hopefully the boss will work it out.

Keep yelling Monchi out isn’t going to change it.

I dont  think either has justfied their huge transfer fees thus far. Maatsen especially i was expecting to be first choice left back by now but cant get in team consistently

Onanas always injured whoch is annoying.
Add malen another that cant get in side

Thats 100m on all those three and they havent improved us at all

We're approaching 3 years of Unai being here, yesterday 9 of the starting 11 were here before him.

Half the team that beat PSG last season was purchased since Emery joined.
