Some players just click when they are part of a certain pairing or team set up.

Luiz had spent a lot of time with us and never really shone (a worldy against Sheff Wed aside) It was really only the season he formed a partnership with Kamara and had Tielemans breathing down his neck did he really come to prominence.

And then when offered a nice contract, on the back of that single season, decided not to sign it.

Lets not think we lost a McGinn or a Mings or a Konsa - players that have done it regulary over seasons.

Luiz was our POTY the season before Tielemans arrived!

I always rated Dougie from the moment we signed him. He was a class above most of the squad but unfortunately used too deep for long periods due to injuries or no real number six.

I rated Luiz very highly too. For me his peak was higher than Tielemans as he brought goals, he carried Tielemans for months too when he first came. At times his application could certainly be questioned but that's where Emery was a great fit for him. Can't remember the game but Luiz had been outstanding scoring one if not two goals from midfield but Emery went after him in the post game interview. Luiz/Kamara at their peak, I'm struggling to think of many midfield battles we lost. There was definitely one game at Chelsea where Luiz took the piss out of their 200m midfield constantly.

Juve didn't work but I'm not sure how 'only' Forest have managed to land him. He's miles above Onana and Barkley, I reckon he takes Tielemans at his best.

It's that thing though isn't, "Why can't everybody else see what I can?"

If he was the player you think he is, he wouldn't be going to Forest after, and it needs to be frank, absoutely stinking out Juve so much they're willing to cut their losses and flog him at half the price.

Will he be first choice at Forest? I doubt he would be for us now.

By that logic, Rogers must have been shite cos he was at Boro and Citeh dumped him as a kid. Man United were desperate to retire McGrath but he did ok for us. Lyon the same with Carew and he was alright for us. Career graphs for players usually have at least one dip.

The fact Luiz was an outstanding player for us under Emery isn't open to question. Forest doing impressively well to have Anderson and Luiz in their midfield now.

They were playing Anderson and that thug Yates, neither up to peak Luiz standard.
