I am guessing in terms of percentage stats for which players of ours have had possession of the ball the longest, our centre backs would be miles aheads of anyone else. Ah, the glorious sight when there's 5mins to go, we need a goal and a CB walks with the ball, checks, walks a bit more, fakes a pass, checks, walks, checks and then just plays the pass that they just faked, only now said recipient is marked. Or they square it and the other CB does the same.

This is the source of my insanity.

Not Conceding the opening goal is important to our game plan. Teams aren't going to press while they don't have to.

Our xG for goals conceded must be horrendous. Opposition teams don't have to do much to score against us.

I hope Unai is watching Liverpool, if you get at them they look nervous.

Also, which feels weird to think looking back, given our, err, looseness at the back this season - we were really, really fucking good at it. A machine.

"Villa are lucky with all these offsides" - no you fucking idiots, that was the plan and yeah, we were really good at it.

At first such comments irritated the hell out of me then I started laughing that people were still so slow on the uptake. And yes, it definitely worked.

Yeah I loved it because we very obviously understood that system perfectly. Our approach now is the antithesis of this.

It's why it bugs me when people say we have no plan B. This is our plan B.

I wish we'd go back to plan A though. Our current tactics are neither as fun to watch nor as effective.

My guess is that for it to work it needs  constantly working on in training to ensure every player is tuned in but as we are seemingly incapable of keeping the same back four from one game to the next they are not risking it.

That is also my guess.
