Emery was sacked by Arsenal after a 7 match winless streak including 4 draws.

He was sacked by PSG after losing to Real Madrid (and having won the league twice.

He was sacked after 6 months at Spartak Moscow after losing a local derby.

The Arsenal streak is the only one comparable with where we are now, and I think a lot of people felt that was premature. Hence my previous post of entitled Arsenal fans.

He started with us at a much, much lower base and we have seen an overachievement in both seasons.

He's turned other difficult situations around and frankly od rather him in charge of villa than any other manager in the world right now.

We're starved of success, but these things take time. I have absolute faith that we will improve again soon.

With friends like you, who'd need enemies?! 😉
I don’t give a stuff. Who the f*** are you?

Apologise or banned. The choice is yours.

He hasn’t apologised yet, Dave.
See the context of my original tongue in cheek post - I was following a mildly amusing theme and Mr Drummond attacked me with both feet. Unnecessary.

Cheers, appreciate it.

He only won the league once in France.

Do you think Emery can turn it around Risso? Have you seen anything in the last two years that makes you think he’s capable? Or do you think we’ll need to change manager? These are genuine questions.

I’ve never had more faith that a manager can, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s got a lot of stuff wrong recently and I don’t think a turnaround is guaranteed.

If he can’t, we are in a really terrible place, given how much control he has. More than MON did and we all know what happened when he trounced off.

Emery is a fucking genius. Of course he'll turnnit around. There isn't a Villa fan who thinks otherwise.

I think your 100% positivity worries me as much as Risso’s doom and gloom. But I at least appreciate that you two don’t type with your elbows, and avoid posting every thought in your head, on every single subject that exists.

I tend to fall in the “Emery is a genius and things will definitely get better”, but I am having a bit of a wobble.

I'd like to think he can, but how long can you have a defence running at 2 goals a game against before you think there's something seriously wrong? It's been a year, and if he can change it, why hasn't he? The first half of last season was brilliant, but the second half of last season and the first half of this have been mediocre in terms of results. Mid table points, and bottom half defending. If he can change things, why hasn't he? 8 games without a win is our worst run since the back end of Deano's first season back up in the Prem.

Where have the tactics disappeared to? Why are we such a shambles in defence? What is it that's he going to do differently? More meetings and watching videos?

It's as good as, and has been at least two conceded in 7 of our Premier League games this season, including the last four in a row. And of course it's one clean sheet all season, the worst record in the entire top division. Nearly two is a just shorthand for typing 1.7

It'll be interesting to see how Olsen gets on with playing out from the back with our shaky defence, as he is normally a nervous wreck himself in possession around the box. Frank will have them pressing aggressively, should be interesting to see how Unai counters it. I'd be happy with a clean sheet tomorrow, even if it's a 0:0, for Olsens confidence going forward

You didn't say 'nearly two' though. Anyway.

Our goal difference this year is +1. Our league form is 7th best. One win more and it would be 5th, but still a good way off 4th, our record is very similar  to ManU, Newcastle, and Spurs (there's a 3 point gap between all 4).

Given the squad, etc it's still not bad. Ys, we need to improve, everyone can see it, but it's not the end of the world, and hardly the disaster of a year you keep suggesting.
