Medics, Analysts, Coaches etc.

Probably includes about 10 translators as well. Seriously. no excuses allowed.   No scope for 'lost in translation' or 'Breakdown in communication'. Players 'one on one' training etc

Thank you for the verses Baldy. You might not get the Noble prize for poetry though  :)

Yes, it might need a tweak or two.

Loved it, not as much as I love Unai though, just to be clear!

In the Athletic article about the extension and the power base that is being built for him, there’s this snippet which if find most odd:

Quote
Emery also given the authority to bring in a Spanish-speaking contingent of over two dozen, working closely on first team matters

I’m behind the man and so on, but 24+ extra? Boggle.
The club are going all in on Unai. We want him to build a dynasty so whoever he wants to bring in that's what will happen. I don't think it will have much effect on ffp. Bring it on. Welcome Senor's and Senorita's. (and anyone else who identifies as something else)

I think we'd be wise to review letting Digne go in light of his displays this season. I know it's high wages but to get someone of that quality in is going to cost too and he's fully integrated and committed on the pitch.

Can't believe I've just typed that after I spent a year writing him off but there you go.
I feel the same.  It would seem to be crazy to sell him.  Surely we can work on FFP elsewhere, not sell such an integral player.

He of all can’t go as he’s the Standard Bearer of … “Another One!”

Chuffed with the news of the contract extension, I can't think of any other coach I would rather have other than Unai.

I’m still at the “am I dreaming this?” stage. The last time I worshipped a manager was Ron Saunders, the title winning season just wasn’t possible. When the impossible happened it felt like a dynasty was on.

I can't see the negotiations for a new contract taking very long.

Unai will sit down with Wes and Naseef, tell them what he wants - in terms of salary , contract length, authority and areas of control.

And they'll both say "Yes"

Only a few managers  have built a dynasty, leaving a legacy and permanent mark on a club for subsequent decades of where their place is in the English game,
I would say the best examples of this are Herbert Chapman, Shankly and Busby. Managers who through their ability and personality completely transformed their clubs standing. After that you could probably make an argument for Bill Nicholson and dare I say Revie at Dirty Leeds.
Stein, Clough, Paisley and Ferguson probably had even more success than those mentioned above but not the transformative effect of permanently shifting a clubs place.

Maybe, just maybe Unai can be our Shankly, our Busby.

He's still got a way to go to match the exploits of the legend that is Jose Crespo.

Pretty much right after that goal against the Tarquins at their gaff.
