Unai Emery on Aston Villa fans: "They are the real heart of the club. We are trying to connect with them and play for them, trying to enjoy together. They are the heart of us."

Good to get some praise but we must continue to be demanding of ourselves.

Hi Monty

I just wanted to check with you - as well as being demanding of yourself, are you also searching to increase your levels whilst connecting with our supporters?

Asking for a friend.
I hope this is all done 'in our way, respecting the opponent'.

I love the end of this video, the last 4 or so minutes. His passion and drive to achieve and win something.

Haha, I wonder what the reaction of all the hacks was to that. An awkward shuffling of notes, tapping of keys and the drive home wondering where the fuck that passion is in their lives.

Certainly rammed home yesterday again how the EPL is the absolute priority.

It sounded like the one asking the question tried to accept the answer half way through, but Unai was having none of it.

Bloody hell that was a scary watch!  If he can’t win us something nobody can.

Love the answer to whether Bailey was getting a new contract.  5 mins of in depth analysis of the player and why he doesn’t think he’s doing enough, and conveniently not answering the question!

Unai rarely answers with a yes/no. He gives an expression of nonchalance/disdain for the question, philosophises and makes sure he gets his message across rather than directly answering what (inevitably-boneheaded) he's asked.

Yep, I like that his answer was basically "top four", but he wasn't going to give him a soundbite that could be taken out of context for something like "Unai doesn't care about the FA Cup!".  Instead, he explained at length his views on the matter, and left no one in any doubt that he wants to win things, and that he will be focussed 100% on Chelsea in the FA Cup, but that the top four would be the culmination of his season's work.

This was my initial reaction, if we don’t win anything with Unai it’s time to pack it in!

He pretty much said the FA Cup was low priority yesterday until it's a semi or final

Is it possible that UE has only a plan A? Nothing wrong with that if you're Citeh and have 25 players who can execute it to perfection... That's maybe where it goes wrong. The plan may be ok - but without the right players it isn't happening.

Love Unai, but the last two performances at home have looked worryingly aimless. Perhaps most worrying if we go behind we completely fold.
