He's said that there are 7 teams who are favourites more than us to finish top 7 a few times. "Better than us overall in everything" is a bit of a rubbish thing to say though. Newcastle didn't have a better team than us on Tuesday, for a start.

I was wondering if he’d said it this week.  I do remember him saying it a couple of months ago when we were top 2 or 3.  I’d say that the Gerrard comparison was contextually different in that we were playing turgid football and languishing down the bottom of the league somewhere - and you could tell that the twat genuinely thought we were inferior to Chelsea and as getting his excuses in. 

He fucked up a bit on Tuesday, but I think Emery backs himself  against any team in any league.  What he says publicly to temper fans expectation is just that and I doubt he’d be saying it at all if we were now in 8th position.

It’s brilliant. He basically torched the guy asking the question. It’s not one thing it’s everything we want to win. It’s not about choosing so much, but about knowing the order of things, but every game is valuable in its own right. And the PL because of the number of games is the true barometer to measure success.

It’s alway good to be recognised but at the moment we haven’t won anything for this marvellous manager so yes we must all try harder.
