no after following Wenger into Arsenal , would he want to follow Klipperty.
Also he has full control here in the football side. Obviously everything crossed

I hadn't considered the Wenger thing, that's an excellent point.  Once bitten and all that...

To give them 6 months to find replacement!

One of the very few clubs I could be worried about Emery going to from us. R

Hopefully they go for Alonso
I sincerely hope so.

Mind you, Mourinho's available!  ;)

There's no way he's going there. Absolutely zero chance because he has everything he needs and wants with us.

I've always felt there are VERY few clubs that could prize Unai away given what he has here now, but frankly, I'm terrified that Liverpool will come knocking now that Klopp has announced he's stepping down at the end of the season...

He's not even in SkyBet's long list of potential candidates. David Moyes more likely at 66/1.

I hope to God they're right.  I guess it comes from having a brilliant manager, that we know is brilliant, and ASSUMING everyone else sees that he is brilliant and would therefore want him.  I'm literally stunned that David Moyes is higher in the odds than Unai.

I imagine Liverpool is one of the most attractive managerial jobs in World football, particularly given they are going well at the moment so it's not a matter of fixing a broken club.

Any manager would be flattered and I'd guess even Emery would be very tempted.  But I don't think they will go for him and I agree, the timing would make it very unlikely that it is something he would consider right now.  However, I think it's wrong to say he has everything he needs and wants with us.  We've bent over backwards for him and I'm sure he realises it's an excellent fit, but he'll never have the sort of budget with us that he would get to play with at Liverpool.

To add, for a man of Emery's age Liverpool will be an alluring proposition. And he won't have grown up hating them like most right-thinking people from the UK. If they wanted him he'd be massively tempted.

Luckily we've sent our heavies over to his club. Take one look at Liverpool and Josh and the goon squad start breaking things.

There is now a window of real opportunity opening up for us. With this news and the charges hanging over Man City I can see Pep gone also in the next 18 months. We all saw post Ferguson at Man U or Wenger at Arsenal and to a lesser extent after Mourinho at Chelsea the turbulence that occurs, and that it takes time for top clubs to recover from losing a legendary manager. But if we can invest wisely and give Emery the proper support and foundation there is no reason why we can’t compete at or near the top for trophies in the next few years. We need to take advantage of the changes that are taking place at those clubs.

Alonso must be a certainty for the position. Not worried and I’m reasonably confident Emery would stay even if he was first choice.

He might engineer a pay bump from it though. Or a training ground at Real Union.

Didn't Unai's assistant used to work under Benitez at Liverpool?

I wonder if we have a compensation clause in place in Emery's contract.

Yes good point.  There hasn't been a window of opportunity like this for ages.  If only we were expanding our stadium to increase our revenue to exploit it whilst we still have Emery.
