Pep gets irritated easily when FFP questions are put to him. Keep doing it journos, piss him off more, get him to resign. Do something useful, like.

There is now a window of real opportunity opening up for us. With this news and the charges hanging over Man City I can see Pep gone also in the next 18 months. We all saw post Ferguson at Man U or Wenger at Arsenal and to a lesser extent after Mourinho at Chelsea the turbulence that occurs, and that it takes time for top clubs to recover from losing a legendary manager. But if we can invest wisely and give Emery the proper support and foundation there is no reason why we can’t compete at or near the top for trophies in the next few years. We need to take advantage of the changes that are taking place at those clubs.
Yes good point.  There hasn't been a window of opportunity like this for ages.  If only we were expanding our stadium to increase our revenue to exploit it whilst we still have Emery.

Agreed. It feels like we've got both FFP and Heck thwarting our ambitions at the same time.

Yes because we have clearly cancelled all the stadium plans, Heck who along with our the owners are not making any investments, and not even trying to expand our commercial footprint anywhere.

We had plans to have a massive new stand in two years, and all the increase in revenue that entails. And now we don't.

De Zerbi would be the manager to go for , for 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' . Cant believe Manure not looked at getting him , would save them loads with his scouting team.

It's not "his" scouting team is it? Most of the players that have got people excited over Brighton over the last couple of years were signed under Potter and the de Zerbi time is just a continuation of that.

There's no way he's going there. Absolutely zero chance because he has everything he needs and wants with us.

That's my view too.

That doesn’t mean plans to expand the stadium are cancelled.

As it stands, it effectively does. There won't be a new stand in two years as there would have been, and there won't be one in any defined timeframe after that. Or anything else either.

Again, the people at the FAB meeting where it was raised said it was discussed very much in a way that sounded permanent binning, not 'hold on a bit'.

Besides, it is all semantics. As Risso said - in two years, we were going to have a huge new stand, really impressive public space behind it and leading to the station (we forget what a different that would have made), and now we're not.

And I also refuse to believe him, as someone who has already built a track record of double speak and nonsense, when he says not thinking about moving.

Lots of talk this week about how we close the gaps with peer clubs who are earning much more commercial revenue - not sure how we do that without way more seats, and significantly better corporate offerings (ie not behind glass, 1970s style), both of which are things we can not achieve with the stadium as it is right now.

Have to say, it smacks very much of 'know your place', given that every single one of our immediate peer group will have a much bigger ground, and much more bandwidth on commercial revenue than we will.

Even Leicester and Wolves are talking about 40k.

That isn’t the definition of cancelled. The proposed plans under Purslow are being reevaluated. But the need to expand the stadium to drive up revenues haven’t been binned. There hasn’t been one statement from Heck or the club stating categorically that they have no plans at all to increase the capacity of Villa Park. Because that would be the definition of cancelled.

Haha, this sums up the whole situation.

We believe the bad stuff (cancelled forever and no plans to do anything at all) and don't believe it when he says the good stuff (not moving).

He needs to start to saying more good stuff in that case, because thus far, every time he says anything, he places his foot so deeply in his mouth, it'll be poking out of his arsehole.

He said '10,000 seats is too much to add in one go'. In which case, when does it become the time to add 10,000 seats?

At least he could still walk then.
