I know it was only Burnley but that day we looked not just sharp going forward but tight and in control everywhere. Obviously Carlos getting injured has scuppered that line up but we need to get back to something like it quick.

Serious question when was the last time we won 4 out of the first 6 in the premier/1st div?

I had a reasonable Man United fan point to me earlier that they lost their first European game and then went out last night. It's hard to get to a point when you can make so many changes without it backfiring on you.

Dendonker didn't play centre half against Everton either.

I've just had look at the draw for Round 4. The ties are being  played week commencing 30th October. Had we gone through, that would have made it four games in the space of ten days .Alkamaar, Luton, Cup game and Forest, with another European game after Forest.

I was willing us to get the equaliser and take it to penalties the other night as much as anybody but looking at that, not having that extra game will be a massive help.

Not such a massive help towards winning the League Cup though.

No, but it's one game less in an already tight schedule that week. It's one way of looking at it.

Only if you don't really like football and don't want to be successful.

Luton and Forrest are games we should be winning easily too, so the European games should take priority selection wise in that period. I agree not having another game to juggle players for is probably a positive. (Might change my mind if we aren't top of the group and getting 6 points in the league too)

'Unai Emery has earned 61 points from his first 31 Premier League games in charge of Aston Villa, the same number that Pep Guardiola managed in his first 31 Premier League games in charge of Manchester City.'

I get the reasoning, and I get how some might see it as a "silver lining", but I don't think I will ever be able to see "that's one less trophy we can win this season" as anything other than bad news.
