What a bizarre manager he is, honestly. A nerdy little runner bean made of pure iron, a fruity modern possession manager who plays a brutally vertical 4-4-2, a defence-first super tactician whose teams absolutely guarantee goals one way or another.

It's impressive to see him change our formation DURING THE MATCH when you think back to MON who wouldn't change set up during the season.

It's basically witchcraft.

He's quite right to be angry, that's the kind of slackness on the players part that could cost games.

If you watch the "Emery Cam" video of the Palace game, you see him celebrate Dougie's pen for about half a second before turning to the bench and waving frantically to Donk, who is stripped and ready to go on about five seconds later.

It's not just the changes in formation, it's that the players seem to clearly know what's expected of them in each and every formation.  I know there we some jokes about the level of detail, meetings, video sessions and so on, but clearly it works - the players know what's expected of them in pretty much every situation.  Obviously they won't be able to execute those instructions perfectly every time, and mistakes will happen, but it's so nice watching a well-coached side

There was clearly a plan when Chelsea went down to 10 too. Spreading the play from left to right and back again to make use of the extra space for the full backs. Even Torres came over the halfway line with the ball.

All great to see.

I really hope he gets it right on Wednesday - that is the only minor criticism I have - in the three winnable cup games he's been in charge of (man u, Stevenage and Wasaw) he seems to have misjudged things - or not got the players in the right mind-set.

The press keep making excuses about their favourite clubs having injuries. I’d say that none of them started the season with the injuries we’ve had. Both in severity and numbers we’ve had 4 of our first team missing, 2 probably all season and 1 still not ready. Yet Emery doesn’t whinge about it and gets on with getting the results.
The way he was ridiculed at Arsenal for the way he spoke and because they think they should rule the world , the job he did wasn’t deemed good enough. Well he’s head and shoulders above what they’ve got now and what all clubs bar 2 have got. He’s a world class coach and we sit 6th while he’s dealt with the injuries and introduced new players at the same time.
He’s a grafter, a decent man and has won what he has without sucking up to the press or whining about bad luck. The others can scrap around looking for their next name but we’ve got one who doesn’t seek praise and just gets on with it.

Saw a bit of his interview with the BBC and he was asked about the sending off, loved his response which was straight to the point: “it’s not my concern”.

And it was not in a "I don't want to say anything because I know we got lucky way" that many managers do, it was because his only concern was how he would exploit it.

My only worry is if Real or Atleti need a manager, surely he'd be a candidate. And could you blame him for going back home to one of those clubs?

I'd say Real and the Spanish job are currently the two big threats. Can't see him going to man city when Pep goes, they'll hopefully be in League 2 by then anyway.

For now yes.  There may come a point when he can't keep functioning at this intensity and it would suit him, but hopefully not for some time.

He's got us up to 6th now. That's where O'Neil stalled. I remember talk of that being our glass ceiling. I'm backing Emery to continue into 5th place this season.  Maybe even 4th.
