Also, I thought the other day it was odd we were playing two friendlies so close together, with travelling in between, then checked myself and it was of course by design with Europe coming up, and so it was.

He doesn't miss a fucking beat.

The one he’s done is that he’s challenged all of our traditional beliefs and biases we have towards Villa managers. When he picks a team we might groan at who’s been selected. Now we are learning to trust him entirely on that.

The system, the tactics, his ability to start with something and change in game. It’s not about this a A or B. It’s much more fluid than that.

And then there is the “what have they been doing all week” comments we’ve had regards to preparation. None of this “we need to be the best version of ourselves, rolling up our socks, or finding that bit of magic”. We know works like a maniac, and what he expects of his staff and players.

Well we can all see it now coming together.

I'm seriously contemplating decorating a mug in his honour. I can't pay the man a bigger compliment than that.

Maybe it’s the pessimist in me that made me so slow on the uptake, but it occurred to me the other day; that if (if mind you) we got into the champions league, we have a manager who legitimately would try and make us win it.

Are you going to get a tattoo on your face?

Let’s start with him playing a decent side to try and win the carabao cup first
Unlike last seasons nonsense

Imagine if it happened.

Can you actually picture the scenes and celebrations?

I would defo get an Unai tattoo if that happened.

Incredibly harsh. His second game in charge, despite what we now know about his work ethic and attention to detail, wouldn’t of know a huge amount about the players in his inherited squad.

Glad you're up to speed.

After Thursday, it's really intelligent to play tonight.
It's obviously a drill for the Europe evenings and turnarounds.
This will be our final pre season game before the trip to Newcastle but I think all the data collected is actually meaning this is our first match for what it represents.

I won't be so crass to ask how's that for insight

I generally avoid your half a million posts on several threads bursts so hadn't seen it, hence me saying I'd had the thought, idependently of you or anyone else on this board, the other day. I think it was Friday when I was out walking the dog.

You do get this right? That other people have brains and ideas, and you're not the fountain of of all intelligent thought?
