Howes comments before ,  were something along the lines of Villa play in a certain way and don’t change  from that ?  i maybe wrong

Thing is, he's right, we always play our game; what changes is how we get into position to play our game. Long flat balls to McGinn, Buendia coming deeper, Moreno's starting position even higher and wider than usual, the Donck really sitting in there allowing Luiz to press more, all those little things.

Garth Brooks (I know, I know) faint-praised us for having cut through the overcomplicated with 'simple football', which couldn't be more bollocks. It's some of the most detailed football I've ever seen!

Exactly.  Newcastle came expecting us to play about the back all afternoon.  We went long more than I can remrember under Emery and it totally caught Newcastle off guard.  And when they flooded the midfield second half we adapted and played them off the park again.  Howe is decent but he's not in the bracket as Emery (hence why they tried to sign Emery first).

For me he's one of the best 3 managers in the league. I thought earlier, if he left, who on earth is out there that's on a par with with him. I also think he's the most tactically astute manager we've ever had in my time, and I include the likes of Super Ron etc in that. Whether he can get close to matching their acheivements is another matter, but by christ we've got a good 'un.

It would have to be someone from outside England I think, the only option i can think of in the league that could come close is De Zerbi.

Hard to compare eras as the relative resources are vastly different between then and now. I wouldn't swap Emery for any of our past managers or any other current Premier League manager for that matter. Hard to know how Guardiola would do at a team like Villa, seeing as he's only known Barcelona, Bayern and Man City.

Friend made a point about he always had big money to spend at these clubs, how would he get on at the like of Villa and clubs at our level

This was great, thank you. Who know how it'll all pan out, but the more I see of Emery, the more I'm convinced he's the manager we've been waiting thirty years for. We are so fortunate to have him managing Villa.

Lots of pundits are saying Emery and Villa are a good fit. I think the implication is that he's not seen as an elite manager because he failed at Arsenal (which is far from the truth). There may be an element of he can't manage the big name stars like Pep, Mourinho, Ancelotti et al but that's an unknown. Would these top level stars buy into his acute attention to detail? He came in with us hovering above the bottom 3 and transformed the team and the squad with his methods, anyone else that comes in has to be of a similar disposition or they won't play and if they're relatively unheard of players of Moreno's standard I will be all for it.  I prefer it that way too as it's a team game and we are now a disciplined bunch.  I have no worry that he will be enticed anywhere else for the next 3 or 4 years except maybe if Ten Hag fails and our trophy cabinet is bursting with silverware. Exciting times.

I'm fairly sure he didn't respond to the "Unai give us a wave" chant which I really like.

I'm begining to think he's the manager we've been waiting 100 years for (and that is no disrespect to Ron Saunders), the man Frederick Rinder would have employed.
