My recollection is that it was entirely self inflicted as he felt he’d be better if he was able to stand up to the physical stuff from the likes of Vidic etc etc. cue 6 to 7 seasons of plodding around, injuries and the odd goal against the Blues to keep everyone onside. As each game goes by it seems more and more that we've hit the jackpot with Emery. We are really seeing the value of having an 'elite' manager with the tactical knowledge to overcome any challenge. Also, he made one signing, which on paper looked a bit odd but has actually made a huge impact on the way we play and the results. Imagine what he could do with two or three more of those.

Perhaps the most unexpected of his strengths has been his ability to improve the players we already have here. How many previously written off by Gerrard and/or the fans now look like world beaters?

I'm sure he will be backed by the owners too. Exciting times ahead.
