Ramsay wasn't manager.
Yeah, that's pretty wrong.  Did we officially have a manager in that period?

IIRC at most, all?, clubs back then it was done by committee with the secretary usually having a bit more sway than anyone else.

Ramsay wasn't manager.
Moot point as always. The Secretary who is widely regarded as the first ever paid manager of a football team.

The secretary was forerunner to the manager's post, but it wasn't the same thing at all.

It isn't a moot point at all and it's only been "widely regarded" since someone put it on the internet. Until then nobody, and certainly no Villa historian, said such a thing The players were scouted and signed by the board, the team was picked by committee and Joe Grierson trained them.

And Barry was in charge of penalties.

As somebody (apologies, I can't remember who) said earlier, something serious is happening.

Wasn't it Celine Dion?

No, it was me. She was down with thinking twice.

It was the song I was thinking of, alright ("Baby, this is serious..."). Number one for an insufferable amount of time and coming less than a year when WetWetWet hogged the top spot for months too. So much for the heady mid-90s...

I thought it was this:

Just looking down Emery's Instagram posts, which are in English, Catalan, Castillan, Basque, and French. But 'Good Evening'.

Unai is now the 9th longest serving manager in this League.

I'd be very surprised if that happened. He strikes me as someone who sees a job through (as with turning down newcastle last season). Unless he's brought us as far as he thinks he can, i can't see him leaving.

I hope he doesn't get poached.

By who?

I'm not concerned, I suspect that Unai knows that he works best at a stable club, free of the current circus attached to the likes of Chelsea and Spurs.

I’m not even remotely worried about him getting poached.

Any conversation about him being poached, strikes me as almost looking for something to worry about, as there is usually something to worry about. Aston Villa wise, at this moment in time, there is absolutely nothing to be concerned over, all good.
