If we had played our strongest team we would not have witnessed that debacle. It’s that simple,

Our strongest team were just as bad against Wolves.

Gerrard did damage to the club that'll take time to fix, but Emery knows now if he didn't before that some of the squad are simply not good enough.

He played Olsen against Spurs. Olsen was fine. He should have been MORE than fine against fucking Stevenage

The Spurs match was one game when Spurs barely mustered a shot on target. He should have been fine today, but because he's totally inept, he wasn't. Look at the Stevenage goal again, no Premier League keeper should be beaten at his near post that easily.

Olsen's not at fault for today. And I say that as someone who thinks he should be nowhere near our first team.

The first was a general brain fart by the team in front of him and the second was unprofessionalism of the highest order when 10 players all forgot that they were in the middle of a football match and left an opposition striker free on the edge of the box.

There's lots to criticise Olsen for, but today's defeat isn't one of them.

He is - the pass for the first was stupid and the second was terrible goalkeeping. He’s not solely at fault, clearly, but he is at fault.

I joked after the Spurs win that we ‘wouldn’t have it as easy next week against Stevenage’
That joke came back to bite me in the ass.

It doesn’t change the fact that a keeper who plays for his country should be more than good enough to do the very basic things as a professional against a league two side. That Spurs were shit doesn’t change that. And up until the penalty Stevenage didn’t have many shots on target. They were every bit as inept as us up front.

I put the fault at selecting him in the first place. Is it Olsen’s fault he’s not very good? No. Should be selected? No. Marginal gains count. Would Martínez have been more likely to  save the second goal? And imagine if you’re the Stevenage penalty taker and you’re facing Martinez in the last minutes of game vs Olsen? Why give up those marginal gains in a key position in a Cup game.

While Olsen was shit our midfielders and forwards who barely mustered a shot on goal all game should be fucking ashamed. We should have never have been in this position late on.

Absolutely zero cutting edge, no clear cut chances or enforced saves for their keeper. It’s going to be a long week

Emery was badly at fault today, not for making changes, but for making so many changes, for failing to see the poor team performance he might get from his collective of fringe players and players out of form, and in turn for engendering a complacency and lethargy throughout the team which seeped its way through into the substitutions. Terribly disappointing, and I'm not as confident in this fella as I was yesterday.

Well they got the ball in the net with the one that was chalked off.

I said when Gerrard was given the boot that the players were the main problem, and I stand by that. Too many who just aren't even remotely good enough.
You and me both. People are very quick to blame the coach but not the average at best players that he has to play

Don’t forget, many on here were saying that these “fringe players” only needed “proper coaching” to take us into Europe. Here is the proof that that isn’t the case. An average player is an average player no matter who is coaching them

Why were none of you calling out these concerns before the match? Because to a man you all believed he'd picked a strong enough  team to comfortably win.
