That's what struck me. Given that relegation was already massively odds on by the time we appointed Garde, it's shocking we were offering such a lengthy contract.

Fast forward to February *swirly special effects*"Aston Villa make largest pay off in their history following the sacking of Unai Emery, eclipsing the pay out to Steven Gerrard in October. Steve Bruce in contention to take over until the end of the season."
This shows the long term belief they have in him. This is great news as he is a proven winner. As long as he gets financial backing i think he will be asuccess here. The fans need to be patient and give him time. Its a big job but i believe he can fix the club after the mess gerrard left us in
Not taking training until Wednesday now. I hope they got through a lot of theory behind closed doors today as with a game at the weekend he was already on an impossibly tight timescale.
Four years for Garde, Jesus Christ. Rarely will anybody have been paid as much for so very little.
I think this is key. We have an elite manager who we know can succeed. We just have to trust he will get it right, even though it may well get worse before it gets better.
