Chelsea would've been much better off just keeping the bloody world class manager they had, the twats.

Emery has already had his heart broken at least once, there's not a chance he'll so somewhere that he's not loved. He knows he's loved at the Villa. saying that, he's worse than Gerrard for ignoring the fans at full time. My guess is he's a bit shy.

I love absolutely love his handshake with the oppo manager then quick March to the dressing room. No fucking about clapping the fans and shaking the hands of all the players. I get the distinct impression he’s probably got some thoughts to share and wants to compose himself before addressing the team. The time for the fans is when he’s achieved something at the end of the season. This man means business and I fucking love it.
Absolutely, the guy is a proper professional - at full time he ain't thinking about adulation, his mind's already on where the next 3pts are going to come from. He's everything you could wish for in a manager. I love him.

he always mentions the supporters in his post match interview with the media. Its the first thing he says before he even talks about the latest win.

He's also consistent. Win or lose, straight down the tunnel and back to work. It's worse to only show your face when the team wins

This sort of stuff does amuse me.  If Gerrard had done this he would have been labelled as arrogant and dismissive.  Fans loved Smith because he waved to fans.  The reality is win games and fans will love you.  Lose them and they'll find a way to criticise anything you do.

Smith was also consistent. Waited at the tunnel every game, win or lose. Gerrard got pilloried because he only did it when we won

People are finding a way to praise a manager for not waving to fans.  I couldn't really care less either way, but the psychology of fans is interesting.

There's nothing wrong with it - he is consistent.

Yep, for me it's more that someone's consistent.  Non-waving seems entirely in-keeping with his general demeanour too.

He can fart in our general direction for all I care as long as he keeps up the good work.

Exactly. Chris is looking at the psychology of fans, look no further.

But be honest, if Gerrard had consistently done that from Day 1, people would have absolutely hated him for it.

It's impossible to isolate one gesture though Chris, it's about a person's entire demeanour and especially how they then speak about the club/fans/players. Gerrard was hated because he's an arrogant chancer.

Very true Corey.  I'm not criticising Emery in any way, he's great.  It's more the fact that he's getting PRAISE for something like this that amuses me.

Anyway, back to the deserved praise, this tangent has lasted too long.

Could be a bit of psychology as well, reminding everyone not to get too carried away.
