I think most respect the Queens memory but want to do so with a stiff upper lip and by getting on with life.

How is playing or watching football disrespectful?

I can understand the day of the Funeral but everything else seems a bit archaic in tradition

It's not. it's the temporary halting of "going about our normal business" that is a mark of respect.

I'm in the minority but I think it's absolutely the right decision. It's called respect.

Do you not think tens of thousands of people around the country singing GTSQ one last time would be a better tribute?

No. It's not a "tribute" .  It's a mark of respect.

Bollocks is it.

As I said, I am in a minority on this, football, forum. Just saying what I think. As are you, very eloquently :)

This has nothing to do with the FA, etc having respect for the Queen. It’s to do with them not wanting the odd complaint about not cancelling the games.
Do you also think that the women that had to sit alone at her husband’s funeral would want such a fuss?

Wrong decision.
Hundreds of thousands Would have been given an opportunity to pay respect to the Queen.
So the other sports that are taking place are being disrespectful then?
Bonkers.

Can you not respect someone without cancelling everyone's plans for a weekend?

Question still applies. Can you not respect her without cancelling everyone's plans?

It's all a bit Kim Jong-Il for my liking.

Just a bit of context, games were cancelled in 1901 and 1952 for the death off the monarch (Edward had the good grace to pop off post season 1910).

They weren't cancelled in 1952. We beat Portsmouth 2-0.
