Still as gutted as ever when a game gets called off. Even when we’re shit.

I remember a game v Man City. I woke up to see nothing but deep snow everywhere I looked outside. The then Mrs P said ‘the game will be off then’. (We lived in Chelmsley).

I was really hopeful and optimistic that Aston would be fine.

‘Don’t be so fucking stupid’ were her wise words.

Liverpool at home one Boxing Day in the nineties, new issue of the fanzine. Financial pain thrown in there as well.

That Man City match was supposed to be my first. As a kid, that was the only time I'd been gutted by the sight of snow.

I can't remember the date but I arrived at the ground to see this sign. No car radio in those days let alone mobile phones.

Happened to me in 1976: travelled by train from Leicester only to find the game vs  Spuds was off. Travelled back to Leicester with a trainload of the unwashed: they beat Leicester 6-2 that day (Kenny Burns scoring a hat-trick, IIRC).

I recall he won a Triumph TR7 for scoring a hat trick.

I got all the way to the A38 island under Spaghetti when the Burnley game was called off in the pandemic. Carried on round and got back on the M6, and spent the afternoon in the pub instead.

Remember that on motd. They played in an all yellow kit; only the shorts and socks were different yellows to the top.Adidas I think.

If they are going to cancel it, could they please get a move on. It'd be nice to have as much notice as possible if they're going to bugger up everybody's plans for the weekend.

Let the football go ahead. Let us have a minutes silence. Let the Scousers make an absolute show of themselves and let's all get on with things.

I think there was a meeting scheduled with DCMS to make a decision this morning, so I'd guess an announcement would come late morning / lunchtimeish?

Reckon 80/20 it's cancelled.

Wouldn’t be surprised if no football until after the international break

There was a call at 09:30 so the decision shouldn't be too far away.

The Athletic have just said the government have stated that it's up to organisers if matches go ahead. If they do, they should consider a minute's silence and black armbands etc. Premier League to meet at 11am. I reckon it's now maybe 60/40. They'll want to cancel it for fear of being seen as disrespectful, but I genuinely think that rearranging games will be extremely difficult this season.

Is it just me, or does the 'Guidance for the Period of National Mourning' sound faintly sinister?
