Is it just me, or does the 'Guidance for the Period of National Mourning' sound faintly sinister?

It's not without a certain Orwellian undertone.

Assuming it’s called off you can guarantee that by the time it is rearranged Leicester will have had a massive improvement in form.

Seeing the West Ham fans sing God Save the Queen last night was quite moving. I feel that would be a more fitting tribute and then carrying on but whether that's what happens, I have no idea.

Typical - and we are on a one match drawing streak as well. Just our luck.

I shudder every time I hear just the phrase "national mourning". Adding "guidance" on it is, as you say, dark.

I think games should definitely have gone ahead, partly because the images from them would be a far better tribute and truly "national" portrayal of the majority feeling towards Queenie than having empty streets and the world stopping. Having a mandated period of wailing isn't a true reflection of the affection for Her Maj.

Fixture congestion will be interesting this year, particularly for the sides in Europe. Might work to the benefit of everyone else.

I cannot see a reason as to why we need to postpone sporting events.

What a load of fucking bollocks. Country on the brink of a recession and they're going to cost the country billions more by cancelling a load of stuff that really doesn't need cancelling. 'As a mark of respect' my arse. What's disrepsctful about the country going about its business. Just about every shop and other business is still open.
