I think we signed him because we thought Luiz was off, and also because someone finally realised that we don't have enough/any midfielders that are useful when we haven't got the ball. Maybe the idea was to play him alongside Kamara, or if it wasn't then hopefully a new manager with half a brain will do so. Whilst Kamara is injured and Luiz is going nowhere, Luiz plays instead. When Kamara comes back, maybe Luiz can play a bit further forward. Or maybe we just play the 2 out of the 3 that are most in form / compliment each other the most. The thing that Dendonker has over the other two though is height.

I don't think he'll ever be the most dynamic midfielder we have, but I enjoyed his dedication to not giving the ball away yesterday.

Every good team needs a couple of players like that. I must admit I thought it looked a bit too attacking yesterday but it worked. I was thinking Nakamba where Luiz was playing and Luiz where Buendia was playing might have been safer but after that who cares !

2 players putting a foot in a wining the ball back before giving it simple to one of your dynamic 4 players to do their thing is how it should be. Luiz for me has not always been a putting your foot in player but has been more so lately. From what I saw of Kamara though he’s ideal for that as is Dendonkar. If one has that bit of height it can be useful in both penalty areas too.

Both him and Luiz did really well at supporting attacks as well, in the confidence that the other was backing up. A very good duo-performance.

He needs to have a good game against Newcastle where he will be under pressure, a bit more that he was against Brentford.

He played well yesterday and did the basics to allow the others to shine. He still runs like he’s constipated though.
A very languid style I thought.

Dendonx has more in his wheelhouse than Nakamba who I'd let leave in January. I still think Sanson offers something a bit different to most of the others in CM though and hopefully a new manager will give him a lash.

He was sat in his Range Rover on Whitehead Rd in the traffic straight after the game, we walked past him. He obviously wasn't hanging around.

He's a Belgian international with 29 caps.  He can't be a donkey playing for them.  I really hope he grows into things at villa and plays next to Kamara when fit.  Understated player.

Needs a run of games and I would keep him in the dohbel pivot for next week against Man Utd maybe rest and rotate him in the league cup match.

Interview on Aston Villa Website

Asked about Emery:
"Quite famous and managed big clubs before he came here and brought a lot of new people with him, all Spanish
I guess new manager , new philosophy, new way of playing everything is new so we will have to see what he will bring to us"

Has there been a buzz and bit of positivity around the squad with a new start here?

"Obviously the previous manager had a way of thinking then Arraon had his way of thinking and seeing things and for us as a group have to accommodate and adapt to what they (new manager/coaches) want for a new start hopefully achieve good things together"

Dendocker is likely still adjusting to life at the club and getting to know everyone, but as it seems to have all changed, he seems a little weary of it all as he's understated and has now got to know a whole new set of coaches and ways of thinking as he puts it.

I'm sure Leander will wrap his brain around it, we only pay him £50k or whaever a week to carry out instructions.

Neither do I after I finish my shift - straight out the door and into the car. Fucking off home ASAP.

He's played six games for us, I'm not sure he's out the 'world weary' old pro stage quite yet.
