Coutinho was a bit flat the back end of last season, but he was utterlly abysmal today. Gave the ball away time and time again, and if he did manage to pass to somebody in a Villa shirt they were usually behind him.

Nothing seemed to work today. I thought early on (aside from the concession) Ings and Bailey were getting themselves into good areas and looking to get forward. However, Coutinho's side was just too slow. We've got a flyer in Bailey, and a handbrake magician in Coutinho. We need to figure out what we want our tempo to be, and stick with it.. because of the polar opposite flanks, the midfield in general were just incredibly uninspiring and stop/start going forward. Today was the first instance I questioned McGinn getting the armband.

Tyrone Mings' brain must be in knots. The amount of balls that bounced in the box.. the amount of times Emi didn't come out for a catchable ball. The backs looked so unsure the few times we were pinned in and our set pieces on both ends were just terrible. Hopefully there isn't a merry-go-round of center back partnerships this season and we can find some semblance of consistency.

I'm glad Edens was there to witness that mismanaged and toothless crap. Keep your cheque book open.

I cannot go through the stress of 19/20, again. I am going to cling on and have some faith that we will be competitive this year.

I said it two weeks ago that we should expect exactly what we got last season because the squad, bar a couple of signings, hasn’t changed. Neither has the manager or tactics.
When I see McGinn made captain and the likes of Luiz about to sign a new contract I want to scream. The likes of them have been here for the last 3 yrs in the prem turning out mediocre performances week after week. Coutinho save as one of two early performances looked well off the pace last season yet we stilll sign him on a long term contract maybe as a sign of our managers ego?  This is the same team who finished poorly at the end of last season so should we really expect anything other than a similar 14th place finish this year. I don’t think so

To be fair I don’t think too many of us were complaining when Coutinho put pen to paper.

Kieffer Moore is 6'5" and was surrounded by three Villa players. No one challenged the ball and he put it across Martinez.. too easy. Not the keeper's fault.
