Coutinho undroppable

Why should he be dropped? He was arguably our best player against Man City. And he scored.

Is it too early to ask about small collections of water?  All suggestions gratefully received!

Strong starting 11, but the quality on the bench really demonstrates how this squad is taking shape.

Disappointing that Archer is the only kid on the bench, I'd really rather see KKH in the squad than Ashley Young.

Agree. Maybe because Young can play more positions. Admittedly, none of then very well since about 2015.

I like that team. Mings will be off I think, followed by Doug and Watkins, I think the manager is making a statement today about moving on.
Hopefully if Ings isn't doing it Archer will come on.

Would've preferred to see Buendia starting instead of Coutinho.
Same. Coutinho in hindering Buendia’s impact without merit.

Ings over Watkins is a bit of a shocker. Almost as much as not seeing Ings and Watkins. Buendia after his knock vs Fulham on the bench isn't a massive surprise.

A shocher? Nah, Ings is generally a better finisher.

No Ings + Watkins, that is a huge relief. No Nakamba/Sanson on the bench but both Augustinsson and Young included, I'm surprised by that. Buendia's lack of training gives Gerrard an excuse not to start him, but Ings ahead of Watkins is a big call.

No Morgan  >:(

Or Iroegbunam even with 9 subs which shows our strength in depth.

Nope, plus didn't Emi B get a slight knock against Fulham?

The bench looks like quite a decent side too.

The absences are interesting. A few loan moves and maybe some permanent deals still to come and we're still supposed to be after 1 or 2 players too.

First game of a new season, arguably one of our best signings of all time... what a bizarre post!

I'm happy with Coutinho starting and Emi coming on.
Fantastic option for the manager to have

It would be interesting to know who the 2 are who travelled with the squad in case something happened to someone during the warm-up.
