Does the player not get a say in where he goes?  I'm guessing he does, no point sending him somewhere he doesn't want to be as he isn't going to improve if he isn't happy.  I would imagine this type of thing is well sourced by the staff (Jedinak) at Villa before he goes anywhere.

Players can refuse to go on loan, but it doesn't go down well.
The club loan manager and staff either contact clubs who the player would 'fit with' or more likely, Villa would be contacted by a club looking for a forward/right back/goalie etc.
A lot of the young players have an issue with loans and can be a bit sniffy about it. Going on loan to Southend Utd in the National League isn't appealing for some and they prefer to stay at BH and stand out in u21 games. They are away from home and out of their comfort zone. Some are shocked that they are treated differently and how poor the facilities are. If a change of manager occurs, they can also be frozen out.
Loans are great if the kid is playing and realizes it is to benefit him.

It says in that interview that he struggled a bit to settle when he moved from Glasgow to Birmingham, so sending him to Japan makes absolute sense.

Yes. I know it's common for clubs to send young players out on loan to clubs in other parts of the country to give them not only game time but experience of being away from home but Japan would be a stretch.

There's scope for academy players to be utilised in Japan as well as players from Kobe coming to England.

Not sure it’ll be our top prospect going over there but fair chance others will go at various points Footy - not sure when the J League season runs, if it’s over summer would be good for any players who were injured during our season to go

Yes, but the jet lag from going east to west is far easier to deal with than flying eastwards.

Japan is part of the global north and have far advance technology implementation in travel and support health care.
The young players would enjoy the experience as much as players coming to England.

So far at Rangers, Scotland & Villa he has played from the ages 15-18 at the levels u18-u21 & has pretty much scored a goal per game.

Could he flop?

Yes.

But from the age of 15 to 18, his goalscoring record playing at levels above his age suggests that he could become a very good striker...

So the likelihood of us sending Wilson to Japan?

Kellyman hasn't been at the academy long enough to be registered as a youth player and presumably, it would be the same for Wilson. The article also said he's barely trained with the senior squad yet so he's not likely to be in Emery's thinking for this season.

Wilson is another one like Kellyman who is quite tall, and still needs to fill out a bit.  It's taken Louie Barry until he was 20 to stop looking like a skinny kid, and it could be the same for these two. There is no rush on either of them. Wilson is also younger than Kellyman, who himself is still VERY young.  They'll both still only be 19 at the end of NEXT season.

Both excellent prospects, but as we've seen recently, the step up from starring at youth level to making it in our current first team is huge.
