Bouba is so unlucky. Initially looked like he’d escaped any ligament damage but then after more tests and swelling it was uncovered

He just doesn’t do “small” injuries does he

Probably why we will be able to keep him long term as well. Can’t see many willing to spend big money on someone with his injury record

The operation is reported to have been successful, and they indeed describe it as "ligament damage".

The reports indicate he has "very little chance" of making the World Cup (which suggests he may be expected back before the end of the season, perhaps?).

I'd seriously consider letting one of Onana or Booby go. Can't afford to have 2 players that miss loads of games each season. especially when both are CM.
According to wiki, he's played 24/20/26/18 league matches for us over his four seasons. That's just under 58% of matches. Does the lack of reliability in getting on the park outweigh how good he is when he's on it? I'm not sure it does.
With Bogarde and Hemmings emerging as credible CMF players (and, hopefully, Borland not too far behind) I think this is a valid question - do we keep 2 or 3 well-paid sicknote players or release one or two of them and take whatever we can in transfer fees (and get their wages off the system)?

I doubt that very much, but perhaps fit for next season. I really feel for him. He missed the last international tournament too, gutting.

Last time was Jan to Sept wasn't it, although he wasn't fully back until Jan due to niggles. Booby, like Emery must hate even numbered years whilst at the Villa.

I hold some hope that this one isn't as big an injury as the previous one. From everything that's out there it sounds like we're expecting him to be ready for a full pre-season at the latest so we should be full strength again next year. It's still not ideal but with knee ligaments being back after 6months is still pretty positive.

No mention of an ACL. So presumably more common or garden medial damage, which is (all things being equal) less serious, it seems.

Yep, that's exactly how I've read it. I had hoped it was a meniscus injury when it happened which would've been 6-8 weeks at most but it's clearly more than that.

Not sure about that reasoning.  I'd say I have "very little chance" of a NSA romp with Emily Blunt, but that doesn't mean I'd expect it to happen before end of May.

The National Sheep Association has taken a dim view of romps since The Incident.

Not sure it qualifies as a 'romp' if there's no sex allowed.

As I posted at the time, still believe it’s Patella related just worse than the initial prognosis

It’s not an ACL that’s for sure
