Big spread on Bouba in L'Équipe this morning - looks like he'll be in the next France squad, which is important for us.

He was magnificent yesterday as he nearly always is. A truly world class player who we dearly missed against Arsenal.

And he's shown that he can play well further forward as well. What a strike against Wolves.

I mentioned in the match thread, if a team used him in the way we use Tielemans, he'd probably be better than half the players doing that job in the league at the moment as well.

Personally I would prefer it if he has a summer in south of France rather than North America however as I said elsewhere he is world class and I don’t believe there is a better Frenchman for their middle and he deserves world stage come June.

They have a lot of high caliber midfielders, to be fair, but Bouba should be in the squad.

It's important for us, I think, that he feels he can get that recognition at Villa.

When we originally signed him, there was some criticism from Deschamps that Bouba had not gone down the usual route and signed for a CL team (PSG were interested) - think it was something along the lines of "we don't understand his choice".

So I don't think it's a stretch to see Deschamps' reluctance to pick him as part of that - i.e., Bouba not following his advice.

But the clamour for his inclusion is growing.

Version without paywall here. Other than a return to the France squad, the article also suggests he may move if one of Europe's "big clubs" shows an interest this summer:

Quote
Last summer, the club extended Kamara's contract to June 2030. But Villa's management knows that it will be resigned to him leaving if one of the major European clubs comes calling. Aged 26, Kamara has admirers, but isn't looking beyond this season for the time being.

It was incredible work for the club to get him inked to a new deal despite not getting into the CL. And brilliant by him seeing we are a great long term option for his career when there would be any number of top sides who will have wanted him. Especially he left during his last deal or worse on a free.

I wonder did we have have to put in a release clause on his new deal and how much we would want for him. 100 million euro?

I hope not as he's worth more. I'd be looking for €120m. He's still young so anybody considering buying him will know they'll get at least 5 years out of him, a great investment. PSG have Vitinha, probably the only player I can think of who's better than Bouba. By 'big clubs' they can only mean Real Madrid and Barca and I can't see either wanting to cough up the type of money we'd demand.

Close to being the best Villa player I've ever laid eyes on.
